Ripping out kitchens, meeting the neighbours and digging borders. April 8, 2015. July 8, 2015. A lot depends on who your neighbours are when it comes to enjoying your time in a new place. And fortunately, the owners of the other five cottages that make up the little complex Gillan is sited on couldn’t be a more pleasant bunch. The pungent, heady scent that winds its way through shady woodland at this time of year. The flat, broad leaves and delicate white flowers. And above all, the deep, rich flavour it lends to dishes of all sorts. Since we’re here temporarily I hesitate to pour money into landscaping, but I can pull the weeds, plant a few cheapo (and free! Things, and throw down some mulch to make things look decent.
