Oct 29th, 2013 @ 03:33 pm. Still trying to figure out what's wrong "under the hood," and I *don't* mean the hood on the MG. Now, I *could* have gone to the gym. But, considering that I hadn't eaten anything since midnight, some serious noms were in order. Let's just say that a turkey sub from Sheetz gave its life to the cause.

Sep 15th, 2013 @ 10:07 pm. Yep, I took the car out again. Since I had to move it out of the garage anyway.why not? From there, I picked up Route 40. Not the modern road, which bypasses Uniontown. No, I chose to head up the old (Business) 40 instead. It's longer and usually has more traffic. But, it suits the car's characteristics better- a bit twisty, plus you get to head through Hopwood, and then up the Summit. 70MPH comes up *very* quickly when you're heading down! Once I passed the traffic light at Oh...

May 18th, 2013 @ 06:12 pm. Big happening in the garage today! So much.that the jet needs a *lot* less effort to drop it. Of course, it helped that I had the jet/link screw tightened all the way, and I cleaned off all the sticky, dried gasoline and oil. That lot was gumming up the works! Next up is to take the rear carb apart and clean it. Speaking of air cleaners, I'm going to have to get the proper U-shaped bracket for the rear carb. For some reason, this has gone missing. Up until now, the rear...My tr...

Jul 3rd, 2015 @ 09:01 pm. Well, vacation is just about over :( As expected, not having my dad here this year was a bit odd. Probably a good thing, since the usual dramafest would have been seriously amplified. Things were bad enough before he left- but to get both of my parents in the same room?

Jun 9th, 2013 @ 04:54 pm. Last night, I got the MG running again. Well.not exactly. I asked a former BMC member to come over and lend a hand. He came around 1-1:30, and several hours later, the car moved under its own power. Lots of intense fiddling was required, but at least it runs. As a result, I had to leave the choke out a lot longer than I would have liked. Didn't stop me from stalling at nearly *every* stop sign in the borough. After about a dozen restarts, I got the technique down- put th...With ...

May 9th, 2013 @ 10:30 pm. Car is still off the road. At least I'm getting closer. This time, it's the carbs that are bugging me. When the car was last running, the piston inside the rear carb would occasionally stick in the "up" position. (I'm not going to go through how an SU HS4 works. To start the bloody car. Someone apparently used the wrong type of screwdriver (Philips instead of Pozi- there are no Philips heads on an MGB!

May 20th, 2013 @ 09:40 pm. I should have posted these earlier. Second photo is the rear carb, also just as it came off the car. It's still attached (loosely) to the linkage. These linkages control the throttle as well as the choke. It's a mirror image of the front carb. It's cleaner, but by no means perfect. I don't have a polishing machine, and the cost to rent one for just one item (the dashpot cover) is too expensive. Very simple once you understand how everything works :p.
