The site of the vineyard was part of the original Rokeby Estate which was used by the Army as a training camp in World War II. Following the establishment of the camp by the 46th Battalion, the 2/22 Infantry Battalion was formed on the site of the current vineyard in July 1940, where they undertook their initial training. Those Lark Force members who were not killed or captured, escaped into the jungle. Many were to die of disease, exhaustion or execution by the Japanese.

History of the Vineyard. Development of the vineyard commenced in 1998 and the first vines were planted in January 1999. The vineyard is situated on an erosion delta made up of deep granite sands and red ironstone clays. Only varieties which achieve their maximum potential in our climate are grown. The average rainfall is around 600 mm per annum and the climate is similar to the northern Rhone Valley region of France.

History of the Vineyard. The varieties planted at Traawool are shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, nebbiolo, viognier and merlot. The viognier and merlot are young vines and will not be producing until 2008-2009. Cane and bunch thinnning ensure low tonnages of premium quality grapes and organic sprays are predominantly used. History of the Vineyard. Welcome to the home of Traawool Valley fine wines. Traawool Valley Vineyard is owned and run by Julie and John Farrer and is situated in the Traawool Valley, south-east of Seymour in Central Victoria. It is part of the Central Victorian wine region, located on the picturesque northern slopes of the Great Dividing Range at an elevation of 200 metres.
