Hakuna Matata in Zanzibar. Houston Chronicle and San Antonio Express-News, 12/21/08. Jozani Forest is the last remnant of Zanzibar’s mahogany forest and it’s also home to the rare Zanzibar red colobus monkey. Only about 2,000 of this highly endangered species remain, and only on Zanzibar. Watch some endearing colobus babies and their mothers at play. Much more to come, soon! Travel Buzz – Washington, D.C. By Tracy L. Barnett. The cradle of our democracy. Every American has at least two places to call home: a birthplace and the cradle of our democracy. It’s hard to beat Washington, D.C., as a destination for kids, especially those who are old enough to absorb the educational opportunities. Two Houston families, the Mitchells and the Roths, recently made the trip, and both came back making plans for a return. Maggie, 4, tickled the family with her excited rendition of the comi...

Los Cabos: The call of the Baja coast. October 5, 2009. Posted by tracybarnett in Mexico. Pilar McNear wanted to do something really special for her 40th birthday. So she and her husband Jeff pulled out all the stops and invited 12 other couples to join them in Los Cabos, the spectacular resort town that lies at the tip of the Baja Penninsula. Here’s the slide show. Compliments of Wendy Yu, one of the invitees. No comments yet — be the first. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

Bite of El Diente, and Tips for Climbers. October 2, 2009. Posted by tracybarnett in Adventure. Society of American Travel Writers. Most climbers tackle their art with a passion that could only be called contagious.
