Modeling a Growth Mindset. Do I or Not Yet? I recently had a conversation with someone where I said, “If so- and so- were observing me in my classroom, I would want them to think that I was a good teacher. After reflecting on Carol Dweck’s book. Who does not like feeling valued or apart of something great? So here I am, asking myself the hard question, was I demonstrating a fixed mindset by my comment? Is it an external factor, such as a compliment from a fellow colleague? Impressing our bosses with our awesomeness? Or is it an internal desire to continuously challenge ourselves to grow? The desire where we shift our views of setbacks and failures and embrace them and use them as an opportunity to learn? How will this problem help me get better?
