Navigation | Travelling Patsy

For Navigation we trust in three different things. The Tracks 4 Africa maps. The Tracks 4 Africa maps are great and travelling the southern part of Africa would have been a lot more difficult without them! A lot of offroad routes are available and also many accomodation options are included in there. But don’t rely on the navigation in big cities like Durban or Cape Town. Itinerary | Travelling Patsy
https://travellingpatsy.wordpress.com/itinerary
The route we have taken so far (August 2011 till March 1st, 2012). Distance travelled so far: approx. 22,500 km. 1 broken air shock in Namibia – welded. 1 broken axle stabilizer in South Africa – welded. A funny noise at the steering – fixed in Cape Town. A bit of leaking on the additional fuel tank – leak identified, fixed but not to our satisfaction. 1 new stone-chipping in the windscreen – fixed. 1 new 100 ah battery. Not bad for such a distance! 3 Responses to “Itinerary”. September 21, 2011 at 22:24.
Budget calculations | Travelling Patsy
https://travellingpatsy.wordpress.com/preparations/budget-calculations
One of the big questions when planning a trip like this is what kind of expenses to expect. We decided to make a detailed travelplan for the first month, and then take the costs needed as an example. Our travelplan included information like:. Accomodation – Where do we sleep, how much does camping cost pp. Distance travelled – How many km do we drive to get from location A to B, Expected diesel consumption, local diesel costs. 01. Emirates | Travelling Patsy

The first times we were infected with the offroad bug is when Haitske and I travelled to Abu Dhabi to visit a friend of hers. Though we did not rent our own 4×4 car (but got the smallest rental car available in the Emirates – which had approximately 1/4th of the size of a normal car there), we decided to do an expedition into the desert. A last trip into the bush. Before we spoil our Patsy with some much needed repairs and maintenance in Swakopmund we went off into the bush for a last, last time. 3 Responses to “A last trip into the bush”. Inside the Western Ghats
Inside the Western Ghats. Wednesday, 7 August 2013. My last post helped a friend plan his family vacation at Coorg. With a long weekend round the corner, I thought "how about inspiring someone to visit Chikamagalur. Is the 'birthplace of coffee' in India; the first coffee plant having it's roots in Yemen! Travelling Parry's
The where, why, and how's of our crazy adventures. Tuesday, November 22, 2011. Wow - it's been a while since I've added a post to Travelling Parry's. It's been a tough year losing my grandparents and my aunt, walking through the process of Liam being diagnosed with Sensory Integration Disorder, having Joelle's heart checked due to a murmur, as well as seeking God for the shift in seasons in our life. Through it all, however, we have found joy. Here are a few highlights. Phillipians 4:2-8 Be anxious for n...

Dune bashing in Walvisbay. Today we enjoyed a great adventure in the dunes. This slideshow requires JavaScript. Ulf, an experienced dune driver from Walvis Bay gave us a course on how to drive in the dunes. Something we definitely can’t practise at home. We drove up and down on all kinds of different dunes, small ones, big ones, steep ones, long ones and managed to get stuck only once! Sandra sure had the time of her life =). Finally something breaks that we are prepared for. The workshop had several old...

travellingpenn | Tales of an humanitarian communicator
May 1, 2015 · 12:08 am. Humanitarian Information – more than just numbers. It has been a long time since I have sat at my desk and cried over a story from one of the many humanitarian responses I am involved with. Today, it wasn’t words that constricted my throat and made my eyes burn. It was numbers. Right now if we look at the eight million affected by the devastating earthquake in Nepal. We also see numbers humanitarian agencies on the ground, each aiming to assist hundreds of thousands of people, car...
