As the Wheels Turn...: I spy Old Jenn...
http://shawkitty.blogspot.com/2008/04/i-spy-old-jenn.html
As the Wheels Turn. Just random thoughts generated as the spokes of my bike spin and the light of day comes and goes. Thursday, April 3, 2008. I spy Old Jenn. I'll start by saying I had the best ride in 2 years on Tuesday! My legs finally decided to join the rest of my body for a little spin and it was awesome! Did I make it to the top in time? The best quip of the night was Cuz yelling, "that's old Jenn riding". I had a smile bigger than Texas and felt warm and fuzzy inside. Yes sir.the Old ...

Somewhat Raucous Kitchen: Cruise, Baltic Sea Region
http://somewhatraucouskitchen.blogspot.com/2010/09/cruise-baltic-sea-region.html
A collection of silly essays often involving food, bicycling, and anxiety. Saturday, September 04, 2010. Cruise, Baltic Sea Region. Warnemunde is located on the Baltic Sea. Coast in what was once East Germany, and it gave me a thrill to be traveling on East German soil. I was even more pleased that the tour we took to Bad Doberan was on the territory of the Slavic tribes (the Wendish) who once inhabited that region. We visited the Doberan Minster. However, first we stopped at City Hall to look inside, an...

Somewhat Raucous Kitchen: Mixes
http://somewhatraucouskitchen.blogspot.com/2008/11/mixes.html
A collection of silly essays often involving food, bicycling, and anxiety. Saturday, November 08, 2008. I simply do not understand the popularity of pancake mixes. I know very few people who make pancakes from scratch, although pancakes are the easiest thing in the world and they're practically foolproof. Foolproof recipes are important on Saturday mornings. Posted by Margo at 8:24 AM. Yeah, mixes don't make any sense, esp when all they usually do is premix your dry ingredients (with pesticide laden, che...

Somewhat Raucous Kitchen: May 2005
http://somewhatraucouskitchen.blogspot.com/2005_05_01_archive.html
A collection of silly essays often involving food, bicycling, and anxiety. Saturday, May 21, 2005. Doubtless a little worried by my behavior, my neighbor emerged from his apartment just as I stepped out onto my front step. I grinned sheepishly, "Out of cornmeal," and took off at a dead run. Posted by Margo at 3:01 PM. Friday, May 06, 2005. Back Roads and New Neighbors, Part 2. However, the signs. The trails are rated "easier," "more difficult," and "most difficult." Some of the "most difficult" ones ...

Somewhat Raucous Kitchen: Cruise, North Sea Region
http://somewhatraucouskitchen.blogspot.com/2010/09/cruise-north-sea-region.html
A collection of silly essays often involving food, bicycling, and anxiety. Saturday, September 04, 2010. Cruise, North Sea Region. We flew into London Heathrow and boarded a transfer bus to the cruise ship, Regatta on Oceania cruise line. Really, don't ask me for a cruise line recommendation; I prefer to stay in a mountain hut. I did like getting lox for breakfast every morning, though. We traveled through the North Sea. We were given free time for lunch in Delft, and then we drove back to the ship, taki...

Somewhat Raucous Kitchen: Glacier Travels
http://somewhatraucouskitchen.blogspot.com/2009/09/glacier-travels.html
A collection of silly essays often involving food, bicycling, and anxiety. Sunday, September 13, 2009. Cold air came in that night, so in the morning I needed my hiking clothes. Hidden Lake Overlook trail had a climb and a brief descent to a wooden viewing platform. Sometimes we were out of the wind, and it was comfortable. The viewing platform was the most exposed spot, and we could not remain there for long! Posted by Margo at 2:29 PM. Iowa, United States. View my complete profile. Day in the Badlands.

Somewhat Raucous Kitchen: April 2005
http://somewhatraucouskitchen.blogspot.com/2005_04_01_archive.html
A collection of silly essays often involving food, bicycling, and anxiety. Monday, April 25, 2005. Return of the Prairie Wind. I remember when I was a kid, and I could never seem to find days that were windy enough to fly a kite. Must have been a quiet year! However, my favorite turnaround spot is the willow-shrouded pond with the swans at the 9-mile mark. I'll wait for a calmer day. Posted by Margo at 4:34 PM. Saturday, April 23, 2005. How to Describe Women's Shape. But no, my fingers are not that long,...

Somewhat Raucous Kitchen: March 2005
http://somewhatraucouskitchen.blogspot.com/2005_03_01_archive.html
A collection of silly essays often involving food, bicycling, and anxiety. Friday, March 25, 2005. Last weekend was, at long last, the final weekend of my community theatre play. Again I lied and lied and lied: "Yes, it's been fun." Okay, it. Fun to enhance my nun costume with a temporary forearm tattoo of a skull with the words "BORN BAD." That part was fun. Plus, we provided large crowds of people with some really good laughs, which is one of my favorite kinds of public service. Sunday, March 20, 2005.

As the Wheels Turn...: Friday, Day Zero of RAGBRAI 08
http://shawkitty.blogspot.com/2008/08/friday-day-zero-of-ragbrai-08.html
As the Wheels Turn. Just random thoughts generated as the spokes of my bike spin and the light of day comes and goes. Sunday, August 3, 2008. Friday, Day Zero of RAGBRAI 08. A thousand other things…checked a thousand other times. For those of you who know me, I can be slightly OCD. Ok, I admit it,. Oh yeah baby, off to a great start already! They threw Pulp Fiction in the DVD player and I knew every word…apparently that pushed Jenn Shaw into the “ok, she can ride with us” category. A few text messages in...
