Morris Dancing – Travel Trales

https://traveltrales.wordpress.com/2013/07/02/morris-dancing

A journey through time across United Kingdom and Ireland. Morris Dancing in Mells, Somerset. The original story told of St George in a fight with a Turkish knight. One of them would die. A ‘doctor’ would administer a magic potion to the one who was killed. Sadly no scripts remain from pre-1700, but these plays were the foundation for Morris dancing, first documented in the mid-1400s. The rhythmic folk dances include bells, sticks, swords, handkerchiefs and are performed by men and women. July 2, 2013.

The Legends of London. This is where it all began! Sharing my passions and inspirations. Secret Lore of London – edited by John Matthews with Caroline Wise. Put the two together and you have this wonderfully woven collection of stories that introduce the reader to London lore. So, what is lore? Lore fascinates me. It generally asks more questions than it answers, and I love that! But, how much of it is real? How much of it is fantasy? What were their agendas? Who were their patrons? As a trained guide I ...

The Legends of London. This is where it all began! Finally, in 1834, someone suggested that maybe they get rid of them, so they were burnt in a furnace under the House of Lords…but the furnace was overloaded and the fire spread rapidly. The Legends of London. This is where it all began! My love of travel inspired me to become a tour director in the late 1990s. Cabbie Rules | The Legends of London

https://thelegendsoflondon.wordpress.com/2014/10/17/cabbie-rules

The Legends of London. This is where it all began! It is, in fact, illegal to hail a cab while it is in motion – you should go to a rank or a ‘place appointed’. A cabby is supposed to ask each passenger if they have a ‘notifiable disease such as smallpox or the plague’, as it is illegal to carry a sufferer. It is also illegal for a cabby to carry a a rabid dog or a corpse, so it really is in the best interests of the cabby to ensure his passenger is not going to die in the cab. Our trip to the Rainbow Nation. George Rex, Father of Knysna. June 23, 2013. On our journey back along the Garden Route, we arrived in Knysna along Main Street and followed Long Street down to a sign sending us down a potholed sand road. We thought we had gone wrong until we got out of the car and spotted a fenced enclosure. Hidden in the overgrown garden was a gravestone, and not just any gravestone here lay the founder of Knysna. But that’s just boring! Oh yes there is! And from there the story runs so...
