I hear the door quietly creak open and the warm body of an 8 year old wearing Lego Star Wars flannel pajamas climbs into the sliver of space at my back that is left on the mattress. An arm circles my waist and a chin nuzzles itself onto my shoulder. In these last few minutes of darkness, before the sun has made its appearance, before the day begins and the clocks start ticking, I am reminded of how big he has become.
