Not a great start. | Treasaigh Bairead

https://treasaighbairead.wordpress.com/2016/01/01/not-a-great-start

No filters, no motivation. It's Meant To Do That. Not a great start. I had plans. Big plans. Going-to-the-gym plans. They had bloody twins! And an evil cat). Oh, and I managed to do three sets of ten goblet squats using a five pound weight, just to ease myself back into it a bit. Got to start somewhere. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Junathon Day 1 – Already regretting it. | Treasaigh Bairead

https://treasaighbairead.wordpress.com/2015/06/01/junathon-day-1-already-regretting-it

No filters, no motivation. It's Meant To Do That. Junathon Day 1 – Already regretting it. Admittedly I made a bit of a slow start. Walking four miles isn’t going to impress anyone but at least it was a nice day for it, and it was a good recovery from my camogie match at the weekend. I got a mention. In the match report! Getting out and about, walking in the fine day, recovering from a great match (even if I have no idea what a camogie is.) It’s all good! Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Days 2 & 3 – | Treasaigh Bairead

https://treasaighbairead.wordpress.com/2015/06/04/days-2-3

No filters, no motivation. It's Meant To Do That. Days 2 and 3 –. Day 2 was easy enough, it just involved more walking. Day 3 was a bit of a different story. I went for a run. A whole three miles! It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I made it all the way round and everything, in 31 minutes, averaging 10:21 minute miling. That’s pretty solid at the minute for me. Day 15 – Desperate Measures | Treasaigh Bairead

https://treasaighbairead.wordpress.com/2015/01/15/day-15-desperate-measures

No filters, no motivation. It's Meant To Do That. Day 15 – Desperate Measures. I’ve been doing quite a lot of walking this week, but I’m afraid no one can make that sound interesting enough to blog about. Today I said sod it and went out for four miles. Not fast by any stretch of the imagination there’s only one averaging under 11 minutes but there were some big hills involved. Well done for getting out there. It’s cold and wet and windy here, so I’m finding it hard too. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

I’m Baaaaack! | Treasaigh Bairead

https://treasaighbairead.wordpress.com/2016/01/10/im-baaaaack

No filters, no motivation. It's Meant To Do That. I love how January arrives and my body immediately decides to get horribly ill for a week. At least I walk to work so I still got exercise. My only real bit of excitement was today, when I went up to Birmingham to watch a gaelic football match. What I want to know is, when did they get a scoreboard? Do they just bring it out for the big games? Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Your email address will not be published. Required fields are marked *.

March | 2015 | Ramblings of a Menopausal Runner

Ramblings of a Menopausal Runner. Fighting Fit at 50 and a bit! How running keeps me going strong. Monthly Archives: March 2015. March 30, 2015. Run Report The 26th Brooks Paddock Wood Half Marathon. In my infinite wisdom I have decided that my half marathon running must be a bit like childbirth a pain soon forgotten or why would I do it again and again? One thing I am proud of is that I did manage to run up (and down) the dreaded railway bridge after mile 10 a first! Look at those skies! Admittedly ther...

Ramblings of a Menopausal Runner. Fighting Fit at 50 and a bit! How running keeps me going strong. Monthly Archives: July 2014. July 28, 2014. Since I wrote my blog post last week, I’ve come across a few things which have strengthened my belief that there is an Olympic Legacy. And you’ll be pleased to know that this post is much, much shorter! Lastly, and although this is not London 2012 related, it still shows that it’s never too late to try to improve your lifestyle. On Sunday Steve Way came 10. You ju...

Ramblings of a Menopausal Runner. Fighting Fit at 50 and a bit! How running keeps me going strong. Monthly Archives: June 2014. June 28, 2014. It may well be the food of love but is it the food of runners? Oooh, controversial Jones! For some time now I’ve been intending to blog about music and running and hey, here it is! Who knows, but it was so wet on that run my MP3 player eventually drowned about half way around so I had limited musical accompaniment! Then last September I took part in the BUPA Great...

Repeat, do not leave it a month between ballet jam classes , do not leave it a month …. Yes, four days later and I was still suffering from calf related DOMS and there’s not even an improvement in my ballet jam technique to show for it. In fact, I seem to have got worse, co-ordination completely gone and balance what’s that! Now the promotional video.

You were warned and this is still a work in progress, but here are my 2015 fitness goals the story so far! Goal To get my runbritain handicap below 15, currently 16.8. Here’s a graph showing my progress since I joined up towards the end of 2010. You can very clearly see the downward slope in 2012! Goal – New half marathon PB. Or the Royal Parks. To be hone...

Midyear Review | Ramblings of a Menopausal Runner

https://ramblingsofamenopausalrunner.wordpress.com/2015/06/29/midyear-review

Ramblings of a Menopausal Runner. Fighting Fit at 50 and a bit! How running keeps me going strong. June 29, 2015. As we approach the midyear point and I’m not going to say it. Oh alright, I will where did that go! I thought it would be a sensible idea to review the goals I’d set myself back in January. This would then potentially shame me into giving myself a metaphorical kick up the backside! So here goes, starting with the successes and going downhill after that! Well, for about a week! To perform 2 se...

Ramblings of a Menopausal Runner. Fighting Fit at 50 and a bit! How running keeps me going strong. Monthly Archives: October 2014. October 26, 2014. Tears But No Tantrums! Well just look at the map. As the test event got closer, I put my name down to try out the time keeper role, a role which bears great responsibility. I’ve always been in awe of this role when volunteering at parkrun. How on earth do you cope when you have a large group of runners heading towards the finish line? Dont press Button C!

Ramblings of a Menopausal Runner. Fighting Fit at 50 and a bit! How running keeps me going strong. July 8, 2015. The Highs and Lows of My Running Weekend! That was a weekend of running highs and lows! On Saturday I took part in the inaugural Foots Cray Meadows 10k. Organised by PB Race Events. And on Sunday I ran for the first time at Cyclorun. So let’s start with the lows and build up to the highs! I’ve driven passed Foots Cray Meadows. I tracked it on my Garmin on the way back 1.5k! The kilometre marke...

Ramblings of a Menopausal Runner. Fighting Fit at 50 and a bit! How running keeps me going strong. Monthly Archives: April 2015. April 29, 2015. Beetroot and 10k Plans – Part Deux! The second and final weekend of the nitrate supplementation trial produced what? Well, not quite a PB but only 4 seconds off my Shorne Woods parkrun PB and a season’s best! I wasn’t looking forward to downing the shot on Saturday morning but I have to admit, it did taste a little better, but only a little! April 19, 2015.
