A dash of synchronicity and a heaping spoonful of sarcasm. July 14, 2015. July 13, 2015. Marsha: I know that our relationship is ending because you have decided to move on, but I was wondering if I could ask you something…one last small, teency-weency thing? John: What is it Marsha? Marsha: John, I know it didn’t work out between us, but I was hoping that you would take a few minutes to tell me why it didn’t work? Marsha: I’m very serious John. You can tell me. Was it money? Was it too much attention?

October | 2014 | Accidental HR

https://treeinaforest.wordpress.com/2014/10

A dash of synchronicity and a heaping spoonful of sarcasm. October 31, 2014. I don’t usually post things about sentimental holidays like Halloween, but I just had to. It’s always been a blast in our household – although this year seems to be the exception. It’s the first year where we have not decorated and have pretty much been oblivious to it. What we forgot was that we did “Halloween-ie” stuff for. Somehow we forgot that. And now, anything we do is just pitiful and half-assed. October 17, 2014. That l...

Be careful what you say to people – they may just listen | Accidental HR

https://treeinaforest.wordpress.com/2015/06/02/be-careful-what-you-say-to-people-they-may-just-listen

A dash of synchronicity and a heaping spoonful of sarcasm. Be careful what you say to people – they may just listen. June 2, 2015. June 2, 2015. So…it’s been awhile. I would like to say it was self-imposed cleansing from all things technological and social media related, but the truth is that I sat back and just didn’t have anything to say. I have been tired, lazy, and drained. But that’s changing. 2) Are they trying to tell me something? 3) I really wish they would stop talking. I DO listen to what is b...

A dash of synchronicity and a heaping spoonful of sarcasm. September 24, 2014. September 23, 2014. A quick glance through my blogs posts will reveal that I have a tendency to focus on and write about the things that irritate me. Do I think it’s my purpose in life to point out the failings of others? Do I have to be as judgmental as I am? Do I think the world would be a better place if everyone else were more like me? Are you looking for quotes that are worthy of a motivational poster? I had the good fort...

Every day is performance review day | Accidental HR

https://treeinaforest.wordpress.com/2015/03/31/every-day-is-performance-review-day

A dash of synchronicity and a heaping spoonful of sarcasm. Every day is performance review day. March 31, 2015. March 28, 2015. When I was a kid I remember asking my parents why, if there was a Mother’s Day and a Father’s Day, was there no Kid’s Day. I’m sure you can all predict what there answer was…because it’s the same thing I said to my kids when they asked the same question: EVERY DAY is Kid’s Day. Every day is kids’ day.whatever. Kind of like that card you whipped up on lined writing paper using pe...

Thoughts from the Leading Edge of Human Resources. HRPA2015: Why Your Organization Needs More Rebels, Heretics, and Weirdos. By Jane Watson on January 25, 2015. What a whirlwind at the 2015 HRPA Annual Conference this week! On day one, following three keynotes, 2 sessions, lots of coffee, and two after-parties later, I arrived home with a brain full of ideas and an iPhone full of notes. Here’s my first post from this week’s HRPA Annual Conference 2015:. What did it feel like to be part of it? That is, a ...

My own interpretation of the world of HR chock full of charm and snark for your reading enjoyment! About Kristina and HRpockets. Where do we go from here? SHRM15 the conference is a wrap! We had a lot of fun, it was really hot, I met great people, hung out with old friends, and had a classy time! Now that we’ve learned lots of great tips and tools and received some wonderful advice, it’s time to get to work! Where should we start? Throw employee engagement surveys away. My own interpretation of the world of HR chock full of charm and snark for your reading enjoyment! About Kristina and HRpockets. Making room at the top. Nah Just kidding. #coltsforlife Full disclosure: I choose not to cheer for the Broncos, but I do enjoy watching Peyton play. The fans that did follow Peyton to his new home, or simply stopped cheering for the Colts because of this decision were only focused on one person and not the best direction for the entire organization. 8220;Top Talent.”. Thoughts from the Leading Edge of Human Resources. HR and the ‘Art of Oppression’. By Jane Watson on April 9, 2013. It is generally the case with figures of authority that when the masses start laughing at you, you are through. Those in positions of authority, including HR pros, would do well to remember this quote. It comes from an article. HR’s Heavy Hand. The ‘Art of Oppression’. I know that many of us would like to think that we’re often unwillingly asked to play the heavy in our organizations:.

Thoughts from the Leading Edge of Human Resources. Live a Deliberate Life, “Beyond the Picket Fence”. By Jane Watson on July 8, 2014. This week, I’m interviewing Chris Taylor, writer, entrepreneur, and speaker, about his first book. Beyond the Picket Fence. Congratulations on your book Chris! Is it weird to be on the other side of things, being interviewed about your own book, rather then you asking an author questions about theirs as founder of Actionable Books. So, if someone did an Actionable Books.

Thoughts from the Leading Edge of Human Resources. By Jane Watson on January 9, 2013. Perhaps the most common question I am asked by candidates in interviews is “What’s the culture like here? 8221; And I understand why. Accepting a job offer after a few interviews sometimes feels like accepting a marriage proposal after sharing a taxi with someone, and this question has become standard candidate-speak for What would it really be like. But if you read my last post on organizational culture. 8221; (whether...

Will the Rise of the Contingent Workforce Make us Dumber? | Talent Vanguard

Thoughts from the Leading Edge of Human Resources. Will the Rise of the Contingent Workforce Make us Dumber? By Jane Watson on December 30, 2012. Already a demonstrable trend, arguably accelerated by the recession and the ensuing tepid recovery, this change has the potential to significantly impact virtually every aspect of HR (and in many cases has already done so). Could the traditional employee become an endangered species in the years to come? The Rise of the Contingent Workforce. 1 Will a mostly con...

Tree in a storm | Jesus changes everything

Tree in a storm. August 13, 2015. Mdash; Leave a comment. I could not drive a tractor in a straight line to save my life. I tried. At the end of every row, I would look back and see these giant curves. My dad would drive from one end of the field to the other to get me started… Perfect straight lines! Then I would ruin the art with my scribbles. Faith is just like driving the tractor in a straight line. You MUST look at the future in order to line up the present. Too much at the wheel?
