Wednesday, May 28, 2008. Two weekends ago our town had a Garden Tour and Antique Car Show. It was a busy weekend with a wedding at the restaurant and prepping to go to Chattanooga, I didn't have time to enjoy much of it. Our yard was featured on the tour so I tried to get everything in the ground and looking good. One new member to the garden was a Tree Peony. That I purchased at Groff's. We all know and love the peony (herbaceous, that is). You know- they come in white, a few shades of pink and several burgundy shades. But that is not the star of peony-dom, not by a long shot. Let us introduce you to the. The tree peony is in the center with the pink blooms. Their roots provide the nutrition and energy storage for the shrub. Tree peonies should be planted by the mid-fall, so that the plant has time to grow its roots before the ground freezes. Do you have any tree peonies in your garden?
