Adventures on the Fly: Thunderstorms, Camp Fires and Dry Flies
http://adventuresonthefly.blogspot.com/2015/06/thunderstorms-camp-fires-and-dry-flies.html
Adventures on the Fly. Fly fishing and everything else related. Sunday, June 21, 2015. Thunderstorms, Camp Fires and Dry Flies. Cold clear water was once again called me back. With the mercury rising in the canyons, I decided to let the truck do the work to get me into the high country. The weather was seemingly perfect and the feisty little golden trout and brown trout were plentiful. Both species attacked dry flies with reckless, violent grabs. Just enough to put the bend in the 4wt. Cold beer in hand.

FishBreaksWater: Helmet of Gnats "High Street" Review
http://fishbreakswaterarchives.blogspot.com/2010/06/helmet-of-gnats-high-street-review.html
Small Stream Backcountry Fly Fishing. Thursday, June 17, 2010. Helmet of Gnats "High Street" Review. Had a chance to listen to “High Street” in its entirety last night and, I’ve gotta say, I very much enjoyed the album. I loved the way the recording sounds - nice clarity and space and punch where needed, some interesting sound effects here and there, cool panning, really solidly-written long-form songs, and great playing (and tone) from all involved. Bravo HOG-meisters! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Adventures on the Fly: For the Love of Bass Part Deux
http://adventuresonthefly.blogspot.com/2014/10/for-love-of-bass-part-deux.html
Adventures on the Fly. Fly fishing and everything else related. Saturday, October 4, 2014. For the Love of Bass Part Deux. Only mere hours separated our red eye small mouth run and our midnight dash southbound. I planned on sleeping on my Kelty air bed in the camper of my truck bed, after an hour or so high beams and loud chatter drew my out of my slumber. With only an hour of sleep, jello legs and road buzz, we were asking for another long hot grueling day. Adventures on the Fly. Adventures on the Fly.

FishBreaksWater: Tube of Miso Creek
http://fishbreakswaterarchives.blogspot.com/2009/05/tube-of-miso-creek.html
Small Stream Backcountry Fly Fishing. Monday, May 4, 2009. Tube of Miso Creek. Yet another report from days gone by.NK, you would've died on this trip. Puthy. Here we go. My buddy Krudler and I had been planning an overnight backpack for what seemed like weeks and, sure as sugar, every weekend was either rainy or, gasp, snowed out. Rescheduling became a part of our normal routine, and I began to wonder: will we ever make this trip happen? What’s a Black Diamond fly fisherman to do? A short while later, t...

FishBreaksWater: August 2009
http://fishbreakswaterarchives.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Small Stream Backcountry Fly Fishing. Wednesday, August 19, 2009. Originally written September, 2005. Ever find yourself suddenly – gloriously! FREE for a day? I did; very recently in fact. After arriving around 11:00AM and slathering myself in my favorite wilderness cologne – Eau de Deet – I made my way upstream, up good old Pink Diamond Creek:. My manhood came into question, frankly. From that point on, I took extra pains to be stealthy. I started crawling up to locations, keeping my profile low an...

FishBreaksWater: March 2009
http://fishbreakswaterarchives.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Small Stream Backcountry Fly Fishing. Friday, March 13, 2009. Round about twelve, fourteen years ago, I backpacked into quite a few local canyons, sometimes ultra-light spin-fishing, other times bringing no gear at all, content to merely observe the resident trout, and to splash about in sunshine and solitude. In one particularly delightful sylvan sanctuary I once saw the one of the biggest local trout I had ever seen. I remember it like it was yesterday. With her springtime bounty). With a day’s w...

FishBreaksWater: Fork of a Fork Creek
http://fishbreakswaterarchives.blogspot.com/2009/08/i-hit-popular-local-watershed-yesterday.html
Small Stream Backcountry Fly Fishing. Wednesday, August 12, 2009. Fork of a Fork Creek. Originally written July, 2006. I hit a popular local watershed yesterday with an eye for silver-tinted trout. While the waters were low and warm in this pretty canyon, I threw caution to the wind and decided to teach the slippery little beasts some necessary life lessons. Moments later, in another nice pool below the bathtub, the Prince yet again worked its regal magic:. With that out of the way, I made my way car-war...
