This Thing Called Balance: September 2011
http://thisthingcalledbalance.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
This Thing Called Balance. Wednesday, September 7, 2011. There’s something in our nature that causes us to compare ourselves to others and it’s usually tied with an “I wish” statement. For a moment, replay your thoughts from the day and see if at any point you compared yourself to someone else, maybe wishing you had something of theirs—looks, money, career, family, etc. Now remember that quality of comparison. I have front row seats for physical comparison at it’s finest. For some reason, even though the...

This Thing Called Balance: July 2011
http://thisthingcalledbalance.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
This Thing Called Balance. Monday, July 25, 2011. The Weight of It All. I have a phobia of scales. Just the thought of going to the doctor sends me into a state of panic, and not for the actual exam, but because of the preliminary step of taking my weight. I have read countless articles that boast weighing yourself on a regular basis as one of the best tools to keep your weight in check. Maybe that works for some, but I am a case where this is not helpful and on the verge of harmful. As well intentioned ...

This Thing Called Balance: October 2011
http://thisthingcalledbalance.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
This Thing Called Balance. Friday, October 28, 2011. Becoming a Source of Nourishment. You have finally arrived at Week 4 and maybe you are thanking your lucky stars this cleanse is finally over and you can dive into that bag of potato chips or grill up a steak. Or maybe you are a little heartbroken all the fun had to come to an end, but guess what? It doesn’t end here. Food is a sensitive subject and a hot topic these days. As a culture we like to talk about food. And why wouldn’t we? Over this next wee...

This Thing Called Balance: Living Attentively
http://thisthingcalledbalance.blogspot.com/2011/10/living-attentively.html
This Thing Called Balance. Friday, October 7, 2011. Lately, I’ve been on this kick of “living attentively”—attentive to my breath, my actions, my words, my relationships, and how I spend my time. Do you ever feel so crazy busy that it’s all you can do to just get through the day? Well I live in that state all too often and it recently hit me that I have control over how I handle my day and how I react to possible stressors. Know that and live in a way that reflects it? Unfortunately, more not than so.

This Thing Called Balance: Renewing Your Intention
http://thisthingcalledbalance.blogspot.com/2011/10/renewing-your-intention.html
This Thing Called Balance. Friday, October 21, 2011. As we’re over halfway through the Living Yoga challenge and approaching the last leg of our cleanse, it seems as if the finish line should be in sight but I’m not quite seeing it. I’m not even sure there is a finish line, and to be honest I think I’m okay with that. This idea of commitment is not about a quick fix to get something we (think) we want and then wipe our hands clean to never revisit or renew the original intention. Week 4 Details: Protein.

Inspired by the practice of yoga, this is what I reflect on and what I'd like to share! Tuesday, July 5, 2011. The [Sacramento] Yoga Community. Friday I went to a "Sacramento Yoga Teacher Party. I understood the intention to be about creating an opportunity for us all to connect as well as promoting the idea of a yoga community in Sacramento that reaches beyond each individual studio. Community simply what's "good for business"? On most days I believe the two can intertwine in perfect harmony. And I ...

http://corimartinez.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Inspired by the practice of yoga, this is what I reflect on and what I'd like to share! Thursday, January 13, 2011. What is the Reality? Next, I hear the familiar question in my mind. What would this moment be like and what would I be like in this moment without these thoughts? Without this whole story of my busy life, in fact? Then there is peace. Does this realization mean that I will let everything else slide and forgo my other commitments and responsibilities because it is all just a "story"? 200hr T...

Reflections: Clearing the Path to Wisdom
http://corimartinez.blogspot.com/2011/06/clearing-path-to-wisdom.html
Inspired by the practice of yoga, this is what I reflect on and what I'd like to share! Sunday, July 3, 2011. Clearing the Path to Wisdom. The Work" and The Psychology of Yoga. It could be a little heavy for some, and definitely LONG… but I hope many will find value. First, a message from the great Yogi: BKS Iyengar:. Yoga teaches us about something called Avidya. Avidya is a sanskrit word that means "false knowledge" or “incorrect understanding”. Avidya occurs consistently in the Men...In The Heart of Y...
