The Polka Dot Periodical: February 2015
http://eyeonthehorse.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 26, 2015. Horses and Pregnancy: First Trimester Recap. Whatever: The following represents my personal experience with riding whilst with child. This is not meant to serve as professional advice, medical or otherwise. Consult your doctor to determine if riding with baby on board is a good idea for you. The most common question I’ve been getting after:. When are you due? How are you feeling? What do you think it is? Are you going to find out? Schnoodle puppies.almost as cute as babies.

The Polka Dot Periodical: Abandonment Issues?
http://eyeonthehorse.blogspot.com/2015/07/abandonment-issues.html
Friday, July 03, 2015. Well that'll teach me to go 48 hours without visiting my horse. Arrived at the barn today (with hubs who always manages to come to the barn on days where Pongo has managed to put himself in a medically undesirable situation) to find my horse had a gash on his right hind leg. We got the full wound experience, pus, blood, swelling.yay! It was nasty, but I think mainly just angry because it'd gone untreated. He wasn't lame on it, in fact it took me a couple minutes to even notice it.

The Polka Dot Periodical: December 2014
http://eyeonthehorse.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, December 30, 2014. Posted by Nicku Bruce. Tuesday, December 30, 2014. Sunday, December 28, 2014. 2014 Year in Review! We started the year optimistic and with high hopes of competing at the RAAC in July. I think about finishing up earning my Bronze medal on Pongo in the next couple of years and how much fun that would be.I only need a couple more scores to do it! I wonder if I am not an eventer (since my jumping horse can't jump right now), than what am I? Oh May.this was the month Pongo some...

The Polka Dot Periodical: January 2015
http://eyeonthehorse.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Friday, January 23, 2015. Funny how when I ride better, things go better. Yesterday I knew I had to get in a RIDE. Like, a real one. The kind that takes an hour and pushes buttons. I HAD TO GET AT THAT HALF HALT. Since he returned to full work, he’s slowly been building his fitness level back up. Most days he tells me what he can do and I oblige him. I’m not out to push him, we’re not trying to reach for any goals or shows. Anyways, back to the ride. I get in and get out. If I do not get the desired ...

The Polka Dot Periodical: Wound Care
http://eyeonthehorse.blogspot.com/2015/07/wound-care.html
Monday, July 13, 2015. Is there such a thing as proper wound care? Everyone seems to have a different opinion on it. NEVER apply a topical. THIS topical, not THAT topical. 5 days of meds only. 10 days of med always. The good news is Pongo's leg is healing up. The vet who initially treated him was unreachable last week for my follow up calls about next steps since the wound and leg were still angry, but another vet we know was nice enough to do a phone consult with me and help us out, thankfully. He's bei...

The Polka Dot Periodical: Fat Leg
http://eyeonthehorse.blogspot.com/2015/07/fat-leg.html
Thursday, July 09, 2015. Well, we're about one week post maiming. The more I looked at the wound the more it seemed like he must have got it caught in the wire fencing. Which all in all is ridiculous because although the fencing is wood wire hot wire, I'd consider it very safe and in excellent condition. Casting yourself when given 5 acres and the option? I chose cold hosing no wraps letting the wound get air the past 2 days because the wraps really weren't doing anything to take out the fill. The leg an...

Slightly obsessed, totally in love with my OTTB: retraining and figuring it out along the way. Hunter Paces, a Horse Show and Did I Mention HUNTER PACES? Asymp; Leave a comment. Hobbes says let’s do this! Hunter paces are our new favorite thing, the picture above is from our first one and as you can see we were both pretty thrilled about it! But as luck would have it by the time we arrived on Sunday morning the skies had cleared and the footing was surprisingly good. Hobbes worked hard but I know he love...

The Polka Dot Periodical: Unsubscribe
http://eyeonthehorse.blogspot.com/2015/05/unsubscribe.html
Friday, May 22, 2015. This post has nothing to do with horses.fair warning. I've spent the last week cleaning out my Gmail. Somehow I had 10G of emails which felt dangerously close to my 15G total limit - even though it's kind of not that close. I then started poking around and took stock of just how many promotional emails I get every single day. I seem to be on every list known to man, horse, hound, mall and online store. This week alone I've deleted over 30,000 emails! Posted by Nicku Bruce. Yea i pre...
