Ramblings about knitting, books, gardening, history and anything else I feel like! Sunday, July 26, 2015. Holiday 2015: crafty stuff. The last of the holiday posts! I had a few ideas in mind for things I wanted to buy on holiday, as I'm trying to avoid buying just random stuff to stop the stash building up again. There were a couple of nice fabric shops in Worcester, and I found this elephant fabric in Rags Fabrics (I couldn't find a website for them) to make a little dress for my impending-niece. I am r...

Daisychains: Holiday 2015: Worcester
http://knitdaisies.blogspot.com/2015/07/holiday-2015-worcester.html
Ramblings about knitting, books, gardening, history and anything else I feel like! Sunday, July 12, 2015. At the beginning of June we ventured off on a week's holiday to Worcester. A place I've changed trains in before, but never actually visited properly. It was definitely worth a visit, with loads to do to fill up a whole week, and beautiful scenery. It was right next to Diglis Lock. Going into Worcester was a pleasant 10 minute stroll along the river banks into the centre of the city. Which hadn't bee...

Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Things to do in 2015. Newer posts →. A trip to Gloucester. May 31, 2015. After spending the first day of my bank holiday weekend in Worcester. The centre of Gloucester is pretty compact and just a couple of street away are the docks (GLoucester used to be a fairly large port on the Severn). The former industrial area has been turned into a shopping and pedestrian areas, with a couple of decent museums. As in Beatrix Potter fame. 2015 Week Notes 18.

Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Things to do in 2015. A trip to Worcester. May 10, 2015. This was the first half of my weekend away, a chance to go and tick two cathedrals off my list. Worcester is only 40mins by train from my base in Gloucester, but trains were only every 2 hours, so I had to make sure I kept to good timings. A short stroll down the High Street to Worcester Cathedral. Just round the corner from the cathedral, there was the remains of the Royal Worcester Porcelein wor...

Dig Lich Street: Preserving the remains
http://diglichstreet.blogspot.com/2015/07/preserving-remains.html
Updates from the Worcester Cathedral roundabout archaeological excavation. Memories of Lich Street? Tuesday, 28 July 2015. If you've been past the site recently, you'll have seen that the engineers have filled in the area of the dig in preparation for the roadworks. Many people are surprised that the site is being filled in with concrete; in fact, although it may seem strange, it's the best way to protect the archaeology! Our archaeologists record a fine cellar wall made from re-used stone and tile.
