The National Trans Youth Network Conference 2014. At this point, being out for over a year and a half, I’ve been to plenty of events for the transgender community. Running a trans group. Being involved in activism every day can feel like slow progress some days, so events like Trans Training really help to focus efforts and boost morale, especially around the more slow-burning campaigns like healthcare improvements and education rights. A few months ago, I heard tell of a new UK-wide event funded by GIRES.

Changing your name in the UK as a trans person | Auntie Ellen
https://ellenmurray.co.uk/namechange
Changing your name in the UK as a trans person. There is a lot of misinformation going out there about how trans people can change their name in the UK, often painting it to be a difficult and costly process. In most cases, it’s very simple. There’s no cost involved. There’s no court involved. There’s no solicitor involved. There’s no register of names involved. There’s no medical professionals involved. You don’t need a Gender Recognition Certificate. You can print your own Deed Poll document. For free ...

On labels, feeling broken, and coming out yet again. This post discusses mental illness. There have been many themes throughout my life. Love, discovery, obsession. I loved many of the people I grew up around dearly, and continue to love some of them today. My family raised me in the most loving environment imaginable, and I enjoyed a stress-free childhood that many do not get to experience. I have since come out to you all as transgender. It changed my life, and it changed it for the better. Hello there...

On Individuality of Treatment at Gender Identity Clinics | Auntie Ellen

On Individuality of Treatment at Gender Identity Clinics. This post discusses mental illness. I’ve asked the Gender Identity Service for Northern Ireland why they don’t provide expedited treatment to assertive patients plenty of times. Whereas I don’t believe you should have to be assertive to access timely access to trans healthcare, I do think that people who. Assertive should not be held back from accessing that healthcare within the bounds of clinical responsibility. For access to HRT and most other ...

May 09, 2015. United Kingdom Nonbinary Election Campaign results and final analysis blog post. And bar charts, analysing the performance of the UK Trans Info campaign in light of the general election result. As encouraging as the 809 candidates pledging support were, the 33 of them that actually got elected didn’t include the 2 Lib Dem MPs who previously showed the most support for nonbinary people in parliament. She agreed to work with me after the election to understand the issues better. May 07, 2015.
