The Turkish Language Puzzle. Helping learners of Turkish put the pieces together. February 29, 2012. As a language teacher, I know that in order to improve I have to get vast quantities of input at the right level. In lay terms, I know I need to listen a lot and read a lot at a level that is not overwhelming for me. Probably one of the best sources I have found for such input is the “yerli dizi” section of dizimag.com. Http:/ www.dizimag.com/. Laquo; Want to feel like you are in the State Department?

New Turkish singalongs in the spirit of 19 Mayıs | The Turkish Language Puzzle

https://turkishpuzzle.wordpress.com/2012/05/23/new-turkish-singalongs-in-the-spirit-of-19-mayis

The Turkish Language Puzzle. Helping learners of Turkish put the pieces together. May 23, 2012. New Turkish singalongs in the spirit of 19 Mayıs. I recently attended ceremonies commemorating the Gençlik e Spor Bayramı (Youth and Sport Festival) at the school where I work. I realized that although I have included the Milli Marş, there are other songs that every Turk knows. And here they are with the words either in the video itself, on the Youtube page, or pasted below it. İzmir’in dağlarında çiçekler açar.

The Turkish Language Puzzle. Helping learners of Turkish put the pieces together. September 28, 2010. Telling a story in Turkish. And here is one of my favorite “storytellers” in Turkey Ahmet Şerif İzgören. Laquo; Is Turkish the world’s most difficult language? 8221; in which she then said to me, “caktin mi, kofte? On April 21, 2011. After I posted my comment I realized I forgot to put the attention on the meatball – so the idiom actually goes ‘çaktın mı, köfteyi? On April 22, 2011. On April 23, 2011.

The Turkish Language Puzzle. Helping learners of Turkish put the pieces together. August 13, 2012. Immediately following tonight’s Süper Kupa match between Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray, I saw the following Coca-Cola ad. I would definitely recommend it for teachng or learning colors in Turkish. It even makes good use of some intensifiiers such as kıpkırımızı (bright red). Enjoy! Laquo; New Turkish singalongs in the spirit of 19 Mayıs. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

Common mistakes | English@METU DFS--Ankara

https://englishatmetudfsankara.wordpress.com/2013/04/30/common-mistakes

Just another WordPress.com site. Image nicked from janetgivens.com. Here is a very nice list of some of the most commonly made mistakes by Turkish speakers of English. It is by no means complete, so perhaps we can expand it. One of the things I like most about it is that it contains comments on usage as well as absolute grammaticality (this word is setting off my spell check, but I assure you it is a real word :). Just another WordPress.com site. Rita Pierson, a teacher for 40 years, once heard a colleague say, “They don’t pay me to like the kids.” Her response: “Kids don’t learn from people they don’t like.’ A rousing call to educators to believe in their students and actually connect with them on a real, human, personal level. Just another WordPress.com site. LEARNer Engagement in a Culture of LEARNacy (Part 01). Jane called my attention to this post on Tony Gurr’s allthingslearning. Contains lots of good questions to ask ourselves if we want to make our teaching as learner centered as possible. Which is something we should all be striving for, right? Anyway, Enjoy the post.
