Random thoughts and photos from an English teacher in China. The joy of Chinese people choosing an English name. One thing that you will come to notice right away if you are an English teacher in China, is that students often will pick unusual English names. Now I dont mean that one or two students will pick a name that seems slightly odd; I mean MANY students choose names that I just have to wonder how on earth they came up with a name like that. China Says Hi: Trip to Thailand
http://chinasayshi.blogspot.com/2013/02/trip-to-thailand.html
Random thoughts and photos from an English teacher in China. Fair warning. I am lazy so this post will basically be a ton of pictures with captions. Day 1 should have been day 2, but our flight was cancelled because of "fog" (pollution). We stayed in Zhengzhou for the day and were able to go out the next day. no form of compensation or anything like the from the airliner. Bummer. We flew from Zhengzhou to Guangzhou, then to Bangkok. Loida in the plane, excited to get out of the cold of Zhengzhou. We were...

First of all, I might as well say that I dont wear sunglasses. Never have. Not really a fan of them. I look like a goober as it is, so I dont need the extra help that sunglasses seem to give me in that department. That being said, here is the story of how I won some (apparently) expensive sunglasses. Links to this post.

Random thoughts and photos from an English teacher in China. I guess I'm a model. Let let me do a recap of events from the last few days:. They had us go into the back of the stage where me met the. There were always plenty of spectators (? Taking pictures with their point and shoot cameras or cell phones. Weird. To model. I didn't know what I was supposed to (or not supposed to) look at. http://chinasayshi.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Random thoughts and photos from an English teacher in China. I got a new job! Two more years in China! Well; the title of this post says it all. I just signed a new contract and have begun work with a new job. China owns me for another two years. Here is some history into that decision:. Now the problem was that I had planned a lesson for a class with a much more basic level. The lesson went well enough and I had a great time! I had been so used to teaching university students that it became odd for me w...

http://chinasayshi.blogspot.com/2013/04/xuchang-building-openhouse.html
Random thoughts and photos from an English teacher in China. My one minute of fame. I basically got paid to hold a ribbon for one minute for being white. Hooray for being white in China. We met up at a bus station Saturday morning at 6:20. Because we were a bit late, when we got the the bus, we were the last ones there. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it) the bus driver had little stools for us to sit in between the isles in the bus. Yay! At this point none of us really knew w...

http://mckayhead.blogspot.com/2010/11/how-to-draw-hello-kitty.html
Wednesday, November 24, 2010. How to Draw Hello Kitty. So the last post I did was drawing a pumpkin. I am not too happy with that so I wanted to get something new up quick. Being in a somewhat Asian mood this morning, I decided a nice simple project would be to use Inkscape to draw Hello Kitty. Because of the simplicity of the Hello Kitty shape, I will make this more of a beginning tutorial and focus more on the technicalities rather than the principles. Step 1: Setup the page. To bring out a guideline, ...

http://mckayhead.blogspot.com/2010/11/creating-business-card-using-inkscape.html
Thursday, November 18, 2010. Creating a business card using Inkscape. If you are in the design business, a business card is a great way to show off your level of professionalism. No one will take you seriously if you claim to be a designer but use an inkjet printer with some business card template cutouts. I will try to make this look as legit as possible. This tutorial will be for a simple design that looks like it was created by a designer. The idea for this comes from a great photoshop tutorial. Now w...
