Learning 3D: February 2012
http://learning3dfromscratch.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
A Computer programmers path to 3D animation enlightenment. Tuesday, February 28, 2012. Felt like fooling around in ZB some more. I got interested in trying to make some other creature sculpts. This guy is some sort hunter beast. Maybe you can use it to eat your neighbor's yippy little dog that wakes you up at all hours of the morning. Then thought, "well everyone gotta get around, right? The Universe is a big place after all", so Voila! A quickie space ship to experiment with. Links to this post. The bas...

A Computer programmers path to 3D animation enlightenment. Monday, April 7, 2014. More work on the Engineer Suit. Spent a lot of time refining as best I could. So at this point it's been retopologized with Modo. And then details added back in ZBrush:. Some more detailing final pass for sculpting. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Felix the death droid. Mudbox to Houdini using PTex. Brent Chamberlain 3d (modo resource). Peter Quint (on vimeo). Andy Brown modo tutorials. Silo Space ship engine tutorial.

A Computer programmers path to 3D animation enlightenment. Monday, May 23, 2011. More work on Sierra's face. Some further work on the Sierra model, focusing on trying to get a reasonable face on her. Two possibilities:. And an eyeball for the model once it gets brought into Houdini for rendering. This is based off of the "Creating Believable Eyes" series by Alex Alvarez at The Gnomon Workshop - Free tutorials. Links to this post. Thursday, May 12, 2011. Links to this post. A Computer programmers path to 3D animation enlightenment. Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Noodling around with another attempt at a biomech creature. Remeshed in modo 601 with the new topology tools (way cool - thanks Luxology! Links to this post. More stuff for this project. First a bit more on the head innards - the biobrain if you will: possible color scheme. Some adjustments to the creature, additional detail to the texturing, and some minor tweaks to the hands to make them a little larger:.

Learning 3D: Another biomechanical form
http://learning3dfromscratch.blogspot.com/2013/06/another-biomechanical-form.html
A Computer programmers path to 3D animation enlightenment. Monday, June 3, 2013. Something more interesting for the Engineers suit, something more along the lines of a soldiers suit: Initial rough dynamesh. Final stage before I go into modo and retopoligize the sculpt, after the retopo, I'll do another sculpting pass to add all the final details. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Felix the death droid. Mudbox to Houdini using PTex. Brent Chamberlain 3d (modo resource). Peter Quint (on vimeo).

Learning 3D: October 2012
http://learning3dfromscratch.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
A Computer programmers path to 3D animation enlightenment. Friday, October 26, 2012. Biomech 2 - modeling done and texturing in progress. Some further progress on the second biomech creature. The modeling is pretty much done, and I'm in the process of texturing it. Here's some shots of the remainder of modeling progress. Rigging was done with Messiah, still have some issues with some of tubing and getting it to deform cleanly. Now we move over to Houdini and render it up! Links to this post.

A Computer programmers path to 3D animation enlightenment. Thursday, November 10, 2011. What modeling in Houdini looks like. Here's some shots of what a somewhat complex model looks like in Houdini when you use it for modeling. The whole model (the HMSS Invincible project) was modeled with Houdini, and these are some shots. Obviously not how the network would normally be laid out, just done so you can see it all. Learning 3D: Latest updates
http://learning3dfromscratch.blogspot.com/2013/06/latest-updates.html
A Computer programmers path to 3D animation enlightenment. Monday, June 3, 2013. Haven't posted in a while, so here's some stuff I've been working on. Back in February I participated in a Cloth Simulation competition, using Houdini for the cloth sim and animation with the core animation provided by Mixamo. This was my attempt at it, a woman dancing the samba: Started with a base mesh, that I built with Houdini:. Did some initial sculpting in ZBrush and brought the higher res mesh back into Houdini:.

Then rigged it in Houdini. Have to say I love rigging in Houdini. Much prefer it overall to Project Messiah. After rigging, a little motion test to see how it moves:.
