Once I was old enough to babysit other peoples children, it was assumed that was also old enough to be left to my own devices if they wanted to go out without Kristyn and me. And we stayed out of trouble. Most of the time. I didn't think this was a very clever solution on her part, so I grabbed the door handle and held the door closed to trap her inside.

I remember one particular evening when my Mom baked a cake for no reason. Not only did she bake a cake, she was acting really sneaky about it. She sat Kristyn and I down and cut us huge pieces of the moist, chocolate cake and urged us to eat. Kristyn dug in and devoured her piece, and asked for another. Mom obliged. I was more skeptical. Cake she normally served.
