Time to go running. Trials and tribulations of a busy life and a constant want to run. Friday, 30 December 2011. In a vain attempt to try and minimise the inevitable weight gain over Christmas - it's so tough not to with mince pies, real ale and the enormous amounts of obligatory meat eating - I thought, at the suggestion of my good friend Dan, to have a go at the Poole Parkrun on Christmas eve. For those of you unfamiliar with Parkrun. I do very much enjoy them, but looking at the results of this one, I...

Time to go running. Trials and tribulations of a busy life and a constant want to run. Wednesday, 18 July 2012. Wokingham Half Marathon - Sunday 19th February 2012. So to the actual 2012 race. Conditions were great, the weather being about 8-10 C . Settling to the race from here my pace was pretty steady for the next three or four miles, although the Garmin suggested my pace average was dropping by a second a mile (whose counting that closely anyway? Probably more than compression socks.

Time to go running: Surrey county cross country championships

Time to go running. Trials and tribulations of a busy life and a constant want to run. Sunday, 8 January 2012. Surrey county cross country championships. With the county championships usually on the first weekend in January it often makes for a pretty sharp awakening after the Christmas break. The 7.5 mile course at Denbies Vineyard near Dorking instead of the drudging suburbanity of the more usual Lloyd Park venue made for a race that lived up to this billing. Compared to the 2011 Surrey Counties, I was...

Time to go running. Trials and tribulations of a busy life and a constant want to run. Monday, 19 September 2011. Not a bad first weeks training. So, the first proper week of training having had August off through injury and holiday. Managed about 25 miles over the week, including a decent 10 mile sunday run, even if this was slightly disrupted by David Walliams swimming up the Thames! Location: CSL Integration, Surbiton Hill Road, Surbiton KT6 4TW, United Kingdom. Monday, 12 September 2011. The distinct...

Time to go running. Trials and tribulations of a busy life and a constant want to run. Friday, 23 March 2012. Southern Cross Country Championships. I mentioned in my last post about the Box Hill Fell Race that I only tend to get apprehensive about two races that I do regularly. The week after Box Hill I found myself on the start line of the second of these! At over 9 miles the 'Southern's' is a bit of an epic one! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Time to go running. Trials and tribulations of a busy life and a constant want to run. Wednesday, 5 October 2011. A zero running week, but still good training? Last week, I didn't manage to run a single mile. Not quite complete laziness though! I with a couple of my friends went to walk the Cleveland Way. A long distance walk in Yorkshire covering a total of about 109 miles. I must say I was hugely impressed with this bit of kit. It seems pretty breathable - I'm someone who tends to get pretty sweaty...

Time to go running. Trials and tribulations of a busy life and a constant want to run. Wednesday, 5 June 2013. Running up Mount Vesuvius. I recently went on holiday to Italy, and while making sure I focused on performing well in terms of spaghetti eating and chianti drinking , I did fancy getting a bit of mountain running in. In the immortal words of Duncan Steen, if you're at the bottom and you keep going, then you'll get to the top. No problem. Assuming that the weather would turn further up. In true I...

Time to go running. Trials and tribulations of a busy life and a constant want to run. Saturday, 28 January 2012. 2XU Surrey Men's League Match 3. I have run the Reigate Priory cross country I think twice before. On both the previous occasions, I have had a pretty torrid time. A few years ago it was the third match of the season and was held on about the 3rd or 4th January - the mince pies probably took a greater toll than even in last week's county Championships (see my last post here. The Reigate Prior...
