These are Ted’s interactions with Zooey and Robin’s hatred for her co-anchor Becky. HIMYM is notorious for doing this type of story telling and I rather like it because it starts you off intrigued and yearning to watch the rest of the episode, a lot like how CSI shows the dead body first and then explains the murder.
