This is a short guide to receiving live tracking data from a balloon sending out GPS fixes. Covering setting up a radio, computer and the software to upload the tracking data to a central server. Another excellent guide can be found at Project Horus. Yaesu FT-790R - old but amazing, can sometimes be found on ebay for around 100. AOR AOR8000 - Wideband Receiver (doesn't do Transmitting).

UK High Altitude Society. Crashes during operation or fails to start on Windows. Dl Fldigi is an adapted version of the excellent free FLdigi. Soundcard decoding software. It takes the audio from your radio, decodes the balloon's signal, and then sends the telemetry. It's found over the internet to a server running habitat, which plots the payloads position on to the SpaceNear map. UK High Altitude Society. SSDV (Slow Scan Digital Video) is a packetised digital form of SSTV (Slow Scan TeleVision). It can be used to transmit small images along with the regular telemetry transmitted by a payload during flight. Any digital mode that can carry text or data can be used, although the current implementation is limited to 8-bit RTTY (Radio TeleTYpe). 0x55 - May be preceded by one or more sync bytes. 0x66 - Normal mode (224 byte packet 32 byte FEC). 0x67 - No-FEC mode (256 byte packet).
