I think the flowering cherry tree by St Mary's looks lovely. I am not sure what the red creeping plant is but thought it cheered up the castle tower! The green plant was also growing in a crevice on the castle wall. The daisy-like flowers were underneath a tree along the path past St Mary's; I don't know what they are either!

Frosty plants on the verge at the bottom of Quaves Lane, Bungay. A wonderful-looking hedge, also in Quaves Lane. A frozen droplet of water. The cobwebs were wonderful. Here's one of many on Sally's bins. Cobwebs on my TV aerial. Submitted by Tony Dawes, Bungay. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). 8212; Rachel Carson. SEND US YOUR POSTS!

Contribute to this Blog. Comment on this Blog. Monday, 28 April 2014. Sunday April 27th, 2014. Bridge Street, Bungay. Surprising sight: May blossom and red berries both out at the same time. Walking down Bridge Street, to Chicken Roundabout, I was suddenly overcome by the heady scent of May (Hawthorn) blossom. Always a pleasure, it seems to bring back memories of childhood. Submitted by Adele Goodchild. Sunday, April 27th, 2014. Bill's Place,' St John's Road, Bungay. Itches and so forth. They were made u...

On a sunny day in June, I went for a ramble at Outney Common with my friend Phil and Jasmine's husband, John Lingwood. John explained that this was one of Jasmine's favourite haunts in Bungay, where she had grown up. Jasmine was an expert on wildflowers and was passionate about the countryside. And large clumps of Gorse in flower. Bungay has two ancient Commo...

The photos of this beautiful Osprey were taken at Broome Fishing Lakes in late September. It stayed about for three weeks hunting fish and resting before it made its long journey home to Africa. I can still feel the excitement of seeing it. Fen Farm, Flixton. Spider web and dew. Birds on Outney Common Pond and Water-meadows. I took this photo near the ...

Tuesday, 4 December 2012. Thank you all for the supportive/informative/encouraging comments. So nice of you, and I'm truly grateful, but why aren't you sitting here at my desk with me, telling me to press this, scroll down to that, select this, click that, until I can smile smugly and be proud of understanding just how my mega-brained computer works? That's the element in all this lovely blog-fellowship that's missing - the Home Visits to the Inept and Confused. True, the now-monthly. I've started alread...

Saturday, 24 November 2012. It's all much worse than I thought. Something bad has happened inside my iMac. Picasa (the photo thingy that I used before iPhoto) has been sitting at the back of the computer surreptitiously breeding. Of duplicate photographs, many folders that should hold one or two images now containing 600 . Looking into the innards was like one of those scenes in sci-fi films where a door is opened and acres of sinister alien pods are revealed. But it doesn't actually work. And a menu rec...

slow lane life: Sandbagged
http://attica-slowlife.blogspot.com/2012/11/sandbagged.html
Sunday, 25 November 2012. Everyone was out until after midnight, protecting their doorways as best they could. We had walked home from dinner with a friend at the top of the hill, growing ever more alarmed as we approached our own home, gradually wading ankle deep in the swirling brown water, and dreading the possibility of discovering a flooded cottage and outraged cats. But the sand/compost bags will remain in place; it rains and rains and rains. Keep safe and dry Rachel. Thinking of you. Jx. Oh dear, ...

Always The Critic: Scala

Monday, 29 July 2013. Equilibrium coding challenge - a Scala solution. Inspired by a random tweet about their added Scala support, I tried out the Codility sample test. I rather liked my solution and I think its a perfect example of some of the niceties of Scala, in a small way, so here it is:. Posted at 18:07 in Programming. Friday, 04 May 2012. Apache Bench (ab) stalls after 16000 requests, due to ephemeral ports. Ive been doing some trivial benchmarking of Play 2. With ab ( Apache Bench. Sure enough, ...
