Gas Stats | Road Tripping
https://ulanshad.wordpress.com/2012/10/01/gas-stats
Going Keroauc on everyone's ass. October 1, 2012. Still working through my photographs (the good ones on the camera, all 4,000 of them) as well as the time lapse from the dashboard camera, as well as the full cost analysis and postmortems and the like. BUT, in the meanwhile, I put together some quick charts with my mileage and gas…. I’m hiding all the charts and graphs below the ‘Read More’ here since it distracts from the pretty pictures lower on the page). Here’s MPG in a handy chart:. So, if I were to...

Going Keroauc on everyone's ass. Newer posts →. September 26, 2012. Found the Cabela’s display they used for the album art of Interpol’s Our Love To Admire! This was a big get. A lot of Wyoming. Big cities like Casper (pop. 55,000). Other big meal was a corn dog at Flying J’s that had been there maybe a day based on the state of the corn bread. Tomorrow I double back to catch Mt. Rushmore, then its off to Minnesota to set up for the final leg (I’m already getting a moustache ready for Chicago). Luckily t...

Final Route | Road Tripping
https://ulanshad.wordpress.com/2012/10/08/final-route
Going Keroauc on everyone's ass. October 8, 2012. I’ve put up maps of the proposed route before, but here’s the final route as I actually drove it. Alternating colors denote different days. This is an estimate including stops, parks, etc. Estimate in part because I forget certain parts (e.g. exactly how I got from Sequoia to Gilroy). Link to Google Maps. Newer post →. September | 2012 | Road Tripping
https://ulanshad.wordpress.com/2012/09
Going Keroauc on everyone's ass. Monthly Archives: September 2012. September 30, 2012. Recap of the last trip day (from Milwaukee to Buffalo in a mere 15 hours). Plan was to start with breakfast in Kenosha at Frank’s Diner (as seen on DDD). Got there and the line was out the door, soooo I decided no corned beef hash was worth a wait when I had as much driving ahead as I did. And from there it was just a lot of driving – Indiana to Michigan through Canada home. Ran out of drink provisions for th...Crossed...

Uncle Moe's Family Feedbag: Chicken Stir-Fry
http://foodfeedbag.blogspot.com/2012/03/chicken-stir-fry.html
Wednesday, March 14, 2012. Awesome as a quick weekday meal, makes excellent left-overs, just kind of a pain depending on the amount of veggie prep that you're doing. If you use some good shortcuts, you can be up and running with a few minutes prep and a few minutes cooking. And its actually kind of healthy! After the hour or so, drain the excess marinade off the chicken (in a mesh strainer or whatever). Side note - frozen mixes are terrible. Let's talk wok station! When the onions soften up a little and ...

Day 16 | Road Tripping
https://ulanshad.wordpress.com/2012/09/29/day-16
Going Keroauc on everyone's ass. September 29, 2012. Rest day of sorts in Wisconsin. Started off in Green Bay, driving around Lambeau Field (which is very nice). Next stop was the Nation’s Largest Cookware Store which I saw a pamphlet for in the hotel. It was big! Finally got a bread knife that will fit my knife block (and a sheath for the old one so it won’t cut me sitting in a drawer). Recharged breifly before heading in. Also I somehow missed them opening the roof between the end of the game and me dr...

Uncle Moe's Family Feedbag: Meat Sauce
http://foodfeedbag.blogspot.com/2010/11/meat-sauce.html
Sunday, November 14, 2010. Some forewarning - this is going to take most of a day. The great news is, you can get a good 5 meals out of it, and its pretty hard to actually mess it up. To start, this is all based off of a Good Eats recipe (found here. The only major change is that broth was used instead of wine. Get your saute pan heated up with some olive oil, then brown your meat until it reduces pretty well (ideally you're producing stuck-on bits in the pan for de-glazing later). And 1 tsp of Worcester...

June | 2012 | Road Tripping
https://ulanshad.wordpress.com/2012/06
Going Keroauc on everyone's ass. Monthly Archives: June 2012. June 29, 2012. This is a TERRIBLE. So I’m doing the first of a few practice road trips this weekend – here I’ll basically circumnavigate New York in a 2-day weekend. Gets me 1) experience driving 10 hours a day with a camping night in between, and 2) experience improvising finding lodging for the night (I attempted to reserve a campsite… turns out they don’t let you do that for 1-night stays). June 17, 2012. Having basic areas picked out, I sp...
