Wednesday, July 22, 2015. Hardrock 2015 Race Report. In late June, Elissa and I drove out to Lake City. She and my friend, Erik Schulte, ran San Juan Solstice 50M. We hung around Lake City for a couple days and I checked out three beautiful 14'ers: Uncompahgre, Redcloud and Sunshine. View from Uncompahgre peak, the highest point in the San Juan's. We made our way to Silverton and camped mostly until race day. Friends and family came, we experienced the magic of the San Juan's and race day came. I was qui...

PRIZZLE: April 2014

http://ultrarunnerrn.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, April 30, 2014. Zane Grey - 2014. A week out from race day I was surprised to see cool temperatures forecasted for Zane Grey this year as it's notoriously a hot race. As Saturday neared the percentage chance of precipitation steadily increased to 100%. Photo by Jenn Thompson. Photo by Alex Flores. I can't think of a better litmus test for a trail shoe than Zane Grey in these conditions. My Hoka Rapa Nui 2's. What else did I wear out there? I started out with gloves and a windbreaker but quickl...

Wednesday, March 26, 2014. Chesebro Half Marathon Race Report. 1,000 friends and I are off! Are my lightest Hoka's and yet they still had plenty of cushion to run fast, pounding down steep road or hard dirt. Excellent shoe for this mix of smooth trail and asphalt. Elissa floating ( I love floating pictures). Leading up to the race I was feeling fairly confident that I could run a 1:15 at this half. I had been putting in some solid training since the Sean O'Brien 50 miler. By mile 2 I felt tired. I lo...

Tuesday, July 16, 2013. This post got a little long. I went back and tried to highlight the main points. If I were you, I'd probably just read the big letters and look at the pictures. enjoy =). I knew backpacking the John Muir Trail, from Yosemite to Whitney in 7 days, finishing 9 days before Hardrock was a little risky. Would my body be able to recovery in that amount of time? After speaking with Dylan Bowman. I rented an Altitude tent and generator for four weeks,. Chamoun on Mather Pass, 12, 080'.

Tuesday, June 11, 2013. Dom, Brian, Elissa, Katie, Michael, me and Keith behind the camera. Duck Pass with Elissa. Shoot'n a chute into Baldy Bowl. Glissading is fun - near Garnet Lake. Couldn't help but check out this year's favorite to win HR (IMHO), Seb Chaigneau. While I may not be ascending Mount Blanc like Seb, I've been sleeping in a Hypoxico Tent. Can't wait to head over to Silverton! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Desert Rats Double Marathon: 7:37, 1st. Black Canyon (6mi) Ascent: 45:36, 6th. Ray Mi...

Travel is not a reward for working, but an education for living. Wednesday, May 28, 2014. Leona Divide 50, Auburn, Iceland.oh my. But as soon as my name was miraculously plucked from a hat in Auburn back in December I knew I had to put in my due diligence. How many chances does a runner get to run Western States in this evolving world of ultrarunning? The straight answer is not many. The last 25 meters of LD50. Volcano Canyon (photo: Chris Price). Racing Through My Life. Bishop High Sierra 100k 2014. Next morning at 4:00 am, Jeff and I were up slugging down the coffee. Rice and eggs were my pre-race meal, and by 5:00 am we were on our way to the race start. The day dawned clear, beautiful, and looking to be warm. Seeing Sada, we warmed up together, and after a brief course review from RD Tim Stahler, we were off. Sada and me at the start line. Travel is not a reward for working, but an education for living. Wednesday, July 24, 2013. John Muir Trail 2013. What is the infatuation with 'est? Why are we beating our brains on a hard surface to be fastest, biggest, richest, on and on ad infinitum ad nauseam? A big thanks to Chris for being a part of this, Elissa for driving us all the way up after a long drive the weekend before, and Marshall for being a great friend and picking us up on a random Wednesday after spending the night at the Whitney Por...

Travel is not a reward for working, but an education for living. Thursday, January 2, 2014. The Year in Review: 2013. I stopped working at the orthopedic clinic I had been a part of for the past year and continued full-time with home health allowing me to dictate my schedule and allowing for time to be spent elsewhere. That is something that I treasure above most things. Spending the late spring and early summer hiking, running, and hanging out with friends in my most favorite of mountains: the Sierra Ne...

Travel is not a reward for working, but an education for living. Saturday, November 17, 2012. Angeles Crest 100: Race Report. Fun action before the start! By: Larry Gassan near the top of Baden-Powell. I struggled mightily with George Gleason for company until Cloudburst where I sat down and wanted rest. Soon after I yelled at Sim to "Never run 100 miles, ever! We made it to Newcomb's Saddle in the dark (thank god no more sun) and really had such a fun time negotiating the technical trail all the way to ...

Like absolutely demolished it. He broke his own course record by I believe 7 or 8 minutes(not sure of exact time), and he probably could have ran faster. I do know he was racing smart, and wanted to save some for the second half. I am 100% sure he can run a sub 7 on this course. He is a beast! Run Keira its a race! I humb...
