Unabashedly PC

Seeing life from a different angle. I Swear, I'm gonna wear a ******** to work tomorrow. After it had happened several times in a row this morning, however, I stood up and pointedly walked away. In retrospect, not only was the point missed, I lost some credibility by doing so. Clearly I wasn't interested in the product's future development. And here's the rub: even though I recognise the sexism and my male co-worker has even started to notice the inequity. Posted by elissaf at 12:59 PM. Links to this post.

Unabashedly PC: Post Script (What a Difference a Day....)

http://unabashedlypc.blogspot.com/2006/01/post-script-what-difference-day.html

Seeing life from a different angle. Post Script (What a Difference a Day.). The temperature outdoors reached 40 about an hour ago today, and with high winds, this means extreme fire danger. I thought the winds would bring a surcease to the heat, but rather than delivering a thunderstorm, they simply increase the change of random lightning. There is now a total fire ban in Canberra. My fear is more direct and visceral. There is a river, so I think we can avoid direct contact with flames. I'm frigh...I fig...

Unabashedly PC: Damn Acorns

http://unabashedlypc.blogspot.com/2006/02/damn-acorns.html

Seeing life from a different angle. It's that time of year again, and the oak trees in Canberra are dropping their acorns. I crunch them while walking across the back patio. Occasionally I slip on the roly-poly hard round objects that dig uncomfortably into my bare feet. Oaks are only one of Australia's many imports, and, despite my inconvenience, one of the less pernicious ones. They're only squirrels," I protested feebly. Blackberries - one of twenty Australian Weeds of National Significance. Spread bl...

Seeing life from a different angle. I was being too politic yesterday when I wrote. I don't know what to say about Ariel Sharon". I actually have this to say: for many years I considered him a war criminal and a hard-liner who stood in the way of peace. I don't think we can rewrite a man's life just because his policies may have changed in the 11th hour. Thought he was doing which might not have had anything to do with peace) were due to pressure from the U.S. for the last couple of years. Epiphanies are...

Unabashedly PC: Life is Fragile

http://unabashedlypc.blogspot.com/2005/12/life-is-fragile.html

Seeing life from a different angle. Life is fragile. I am moved by any reminder that the "affairs of men" will eventually wash away and all that will be left is what there was before us ( caveat. Unless we destroy it all first. I hang on to the vaguely comforting notion that we are the fragile ones and Gaia will eventually generate new life everywhere we've left a niche.). Our sense of self-importance is always over-estimated (although that's to be expected, since we're the ones doing the reporting).

Unabashedly PC: November 2005

http://unabashedlypc.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_archive.html

Seeing life from a different angle. I'm Sorry - Blog Against Racism, part IV. I've been reading about Peak Oil. Lately and I was considering the incredibly fast growth of technology over the past century completely due to this cheap, seemingly unlimited resource (which is quickly running out). At one time, the Energy Rate on Energy Invested. I think the roads we drive on, the buildings that remain, some of the infrastructure, and certainly the technology we enjoy now was made possible because of the terr...
