Independent Company came in July 1943, when two strengthened platoons launched an attack against Ambush Knoll just south of Orodubi, a feature which controlled Bobdubi Ridge and the Bobdubi Track. Besides abandoning 17 dead on Old Vickers, the Japanese left a large amount of booty, including a 70-mm gun and 300 shells, four light machine-guns, one medium machine-gun, 28 rifles and one light mortar.
