Wheel spin | Unrevised fragments
https://unrevisedfragments.com/poems-iv/wheel-spin
The gull, inland. A poet’s refusal to read. My wedding ring and I. The scent of snowdrops. Our Lady of Locomotion. Each other’s keeping. The Buddha was a fat man. A landscape of love. Angela Carter lives in south London. The Accidental Tourist in Baltimore. I have been wheeling. In the wrong gear. It has taken me. To drop, drop down. Come to a braking. Point, a stop. Here, where we are also. Tyre black, trammeled. I cannot keep up. I watch wheels spin. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window).

Lips pursed in the last bone-break. Not yet my mother. Waited for her lipstick ration. The grief from Daddy. It came with gas. It came and stayed. On to get her lipstick ration. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window).

I’m generation ’56. When I was born. Cuba was a watchword. For the end of it all. Of a dead president. Under a murderous heap. I went out into the street. Looking for the others. Born in ’56. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window).
Overdue | Unrevised fragments

The gull, inland. A poet’s refusal to read. My wedding ring and I. The scent of snowdrops. Our Lady of Locomotion. Each other’s keeping. The Buddha was a fat man. A landscape of love. Angela Carter lives in south London. The Accidental Tourist in Baltimore. He took his own life. As though it were theft. Or an overdue library book. So where did it go. This life he took? The one half filled. What do you do with living. When it no longer fits. Or seems to belong. Where do you take this unwanted life?
Pips | Unrevised fragments

The gull, inland. A poet’s refusal to read. My wedding ring and I. The scent of snowdrops. Our Lady of Locomotion. Each other’s keeping. The Buddha was a fat man. A landscape of love. Angela Carter lives in south London. The Accidental Tourist in Baltimore. My mother’s forgotten her lines. Intermittent as spitten pips. It is another sign. And fail to set. If I held her hand. A ghost, the name of the day. But on the thinness. To let the silence fall. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window).

Some Poems | Katherine Lockton

The Day the Rain Falls. The lake is speckled with rain. Each dot an echo of the last. My eyes are wet. Life is melting. I always do this. This is the way it always is. Kids jump in puddles, parents calling them. But still they leap, mouths wide open, eyes grinning. Yellow dolphins burnt together at the tongue,. Kissing the way acrobats do at work. When broken, the joint is raw and moist as meat,. Never drying or healing as wounds do. The death of Mao. The sky duck egg blue, pigeons sprawl across town.
