Up for A Challenge Art Quilts: July 2015

http://upforachallengeartquilts.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html

Up for A Challenge Art Quilts. Friday, July 3, 2015. When I chose the theme "Leaves", I had an interior motive - to corner myself into actually carrying through on a project I had considered for some time. In my back garden is a weeping birch tree. It is a pleasure at all times of the year, but is especially beautiful in early fall, when strands of golden leaves appear amidst the green. The leaves were stitched by hand onto fine cords to create the strands of leaves. Wednesday, July 1, 2015. Whether it i...

Up for A Challenge Art Quilts: June 2014

http://upforachallengeartquilts.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Up for A Challenge Art Quilts. Monday, June 30, 2014. Well, abstraction certainly got the juices flowing! Loved this challenge, Gladys. For the last couple of years, I've been trying to figure out just what is abstraction. Still learning as my natural inclination is to do fairly representational/realistic artwork. Thanks for giving me a chance to explore my creativity on another level. I pulled and stretched the cheesecloth to make holes in it and elongate the holes. I chopped the waffle fabric up an...

Blogging from my studio each Sunday. Sunday, August 31, 2014. ART QUILT GROUP: Surface Design. Art is an adventure into an unknown world, which can be explored only by those willing to take risks. In volume 8 of Quilting Arts' e-mag, 'In Stitches', there is a fun article, 'A Collaborative Collaboration'. Essentially six different artists conducted a surface design round robin. My Art Quilt Group talked about it and four members decided to partake. Here are the rules from the original group:. Here are our...

Have you ever thought that maybe the universe is trying to send you a message? Kathy Kerstetter- Artistic Needle. Welcome to my website! Thank-you for your interest in my work. I love spending my day playing/experimenting with fabrics, fibers, and embellishments. Maybe I could add silk? Where could the hand-stitching go? Every Sunday follow me on my blog:. Or "friend me" on Facebook:.

Blogging from my studio each Sunday. Sunday, October 5, 2014. The space within becomes the reality of the building. My 12 x 12 groups's challenge for this quarter was "Structure". Structure" can mean many things; for me, from my nerdy engineering side, I thought first of building structures. I went to Google, looking for structures and the photo below spoke to me.
