Gray's Corner' is where Upwey meets Broadwey as the parish boundary runs up the centre of Old Station Road. Getting the name from the family grocer's shop (on the Broadwey side) established by Mr J E Gray, in the early 1900's. After the closure of the shops in Upwey in the 1970's, this became the shopping centre for both Upwey and Broadwey. From Grays Corner to Nottington Lane 1/2. St Laurence School -. Photos (including names where known). The 1970's was a time of great change in the villag. E The link with Broadwey became stronger than ever as Upwey's shops and school closed. Gray's Corner became the local shopping area for both villages. Upwey children joined Broadwey children at St Nicholas and St Laurence School which was built next to Broadwey Secondary Modern School at Nottington Corner. Aptly named 'Miles Gardens'. E converted into a private workshop and store in 1973.

Our club has a growing number of keen fisherman and women who enjoy sharing their passion or fishing in a family friendly environment. Our clubroom is located in Upwey behind the main shopping centre, where we hold two meetings every month on the first and third Wednesday of every week. The fishing club enjoys running many events for its members and friends these events range from open water, Lake, River, surf and boating.
