Downtown Hound: Dirty heroin & the bloody baseball bat...
http://downtownhound.blogspot.com/2007/08/dirty-heroin-bloody-baseball-bat.html
All Things Downtown . . . restaurants, politics, art and life. Sunday, August 19, 2007. Dirty heroin and the bloody baseball bat. Well at least life downtown isn't boring. This week one downtownhound blogger witnessed the endgame of a beating at 4th and Winston that rolled out like so - two angry guys, a fight over a woman and one victim left bloody after a fight involving a baseball bat. Yikes. At 11AM no less. At Winston and Main St. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Pete's Cafe and Bar.

Earthquake risk | The 10 and the 110
https://the10andthe110.wordpress.com/2010/03/06/earthquake-risk
The 10 and the 110. Living near highways →. March 6, 2010. It seems if there is a big earthquake, we are all in trouble. I have been asking around, and many people I know do not have earthquake insurance. Suppose a big earthquake hits LA. Will poorer neighborhoods become more or less uninhabitable, because people do not have any spare money to carry out repairs? Or will wealthier neighborhoods be hit harder, because the costs of rebuilding a $15 million house are prohibitive? Living near highways →.

Living near highways | The 10 and the 110
https://the10andthe110.wordpress.com/2010/03/06/living-near-highways
The 10 and the 110. Housing markets →. March 6, 2010. There is an article in the LA Weekly. This week about living near highways. It mainly argues that the LA City Council has ignored evidence of the health risks of living near highways and allowed developers to build highway-adjacent developments. Here are the facts I pulled from the article:. Residents living near highways note that a lot of “dust” builds up in the apartment. He also says that pollution tests have shown that traffic-related pollutants ...

My main website is www.glennprimm.com. Most recently, my focus have been on the rejuvenation and recovery of old Los Angeles' downtown business core, as it morphs from its troubled past as part of the infamous Skid Row area into a vibrant and modern urban living center. Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Last year in B and W. I'm not sure where the "World-Wide B&W Challenge" started, but it's definitely going around the world like wildfire. Maybe it was started for those who have never held an analog film camera in their hands or those that thought that a digital camera couldn't make amazing B&W images, but it's here's and it's viral, as they say. In any event, here's my contribution to the challenge, not necessarily in order. Links to this post. Tuesday, December 30, 2014.

Saturday, March 30, 2013. I really like photographing LA at night. Like any big city, it has it's share of obscure nooks and cul-de-sacs, places where the streetlights don't penetrate, but seldom a view of the sky. In the case of rooftops, not only is the lighting spare, but you can really see the sky, sometimes from horizon to horizon. Tonight the sky was especially fine. Postcards From L.A.: August 2013

Wednesday, August 28, 2013. Hollywood at my front door. For the last couple of weeks, Downtown LA streets have been blocked every which-a-way. You had a Japanese religious festival, a commercial video for a downscale Honda Accord zooming down 4th, the filming of a Gray's Anatomy special, and the biggie, an upcoming TV series production. I suppose I should be blasé about all this stuff, but, hey, DTLA is practically Hollywood's back lot and who can hate that? Links to this post. Labels: a day in the life.
