http://cherylbernstein.blogspot.com/2012/09/the-proper-photographer.html
Art, Life, TV, Etc. The low-brow and the high-minded. Monday, September 17, 2012. A photographer asked to take our picture yesterday. "I'm a proper photographer," he said. "Works in the public art gallery collection.". He was taking photos of Christchurch people in the ruined city. Have you lived here forever? He asked, looking down through the view finder. No," we said. Just one more, he said. I'll shift my camera and one more. Closer together. Last one coming. Done. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

It was not so much the information this book gave me, even though it taught me for life the names and positions of the stars and constellations at any given time in the year, it was the illustrations by my favourite Ladybird Book artist, Robert Ayton. A world that now dissembles and flatters to deceive in an increasingly meaningless manner. I look back at this once new and p...

Art, Life, TV, Etc. The low-brow and the high-minded. Friday, January 6, 2012. Love falls down and covers the people". You sit, and wait, and watch, while around you the current of history keeps moving. I imagine "quake brain" is a modern term for a very old thing. What I missed, in the fog and dust of the past few months, is a desire to publicly acknowledge a series of beautiful collaborations arising from the inclusion of my daughter's story 'This is about earthquakes'. The single most popular thing I ...

Art, Life, TV, Etc.: Landscape Values
http://cherylbernstein.blogspot.com/2013/04/landscape-values.html
Art, Life, TV, Etc. The low-brow and the high-minded. Friday, April 5, 2013. In 1936, artist Rita Angus travelled from Christchurch to Cass with two fellow artists, Louise Henderson and Julia Scarvell, for ten days' painting and sketching in the mountains.
