In September 2012, the AWRDC hosted the first national forum to discuss Australia’s urban water research and development (R&D) needs and capabilities. The forum provided an opportunity to clarify national research priorities and to discuss improvements to the ways in which priorities are set and R&D investments are made. Needs and capability forum. The Australian Water R&D Coalition was initiated following OzWater 2010. Since then, members have met quarterly to understand and share information on their respective business models, discuss and agree core areas of interest, and discuss opportunities for alignment of effort and joint funding initiatives. The AWRDC’s terms of reference provide for small projects or consultancies, workshops, communication products and other activities, as agreed by the AWRDC.

Needs and capability forum. The AWRDC currently comprises of its nine founding member organisations. The AWRDC can consider applications for new membership via its secretariat. Addition of new members must be supported by all current AWRDC members and new members must fulfil the role of an R&D broker and not solely be a funding organisation or research provider.
