Context Sensitive Design is a transportation engineering principle that takes into consideration the characteristics of a community, which highways and other roads pass through, when designing transportation improvements. The objective of a Context Sensitive Design approach is to design infrastructure that fits the social and physical attributes of a corridor. The following link provides Context Sensitive Design elements assembled as part of Phase I.

Speed limits, location of access points and traffic counts are illustrated on a series of maps. Construction funding has tentatively been identified for improvements at US-24 and Topeka Boulevard. Plans currently call for the existing interchange to be replaced with a signalized intersection. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in 2013.
