San Francisco Mechanics: A loss in the semi-finals to Miami
http://sfmechanics.blogspot.com/2009/11/loss-in-semi-finals-to-miami.html
Wednesday, November 18, 2009. A loss in the semi-finals to Miami. Sic transit gloria mundi. Just after everything seemed to be coming together after defeating Arizona last week we collapsed in the semi-finals against Miami. The final score is not indicative of the one-sidedness of the match, one of the worst defeats the Mechanics' has ever been administered. San Francisco 1.5 - 2.5 Miami. 1 GM Jesse Kraai (SF) vs GM Julio Becerra (MIA) 1/2-1/2. 2 IM Blas Lugo (MIA) vs GM Vinay Bhat (SF) 0-1. 1e4 e5 2....

San Francisco Mechanics: October 2006
http://sfmechanics.blogspot.com/2006_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 24, 2006. So last night I went to work as usual at the East Bay Chess Club, logged on to icc, and prepared to watch. It turned out that this was much more stressful than playing had ever been. Vinay had made an excellent decision with 11.c4! Nb8 Be5 or Nf8 Be5 looks great for white, and O-O h5 is probably extremely dangerous. Black really seems to be pretty squished. But I still think for the most part, this was a well played game by Serper, where he was really in control 99% of the time.

Saturday, December 18, 2010. Making a list, checking it twice. After a long morning of looking at chess games and copying and pasting until my eyes glazed over, here are my picks for game of the year, with brief and hopefully not too insulting commentary. Who says you can't win blog of the year after the season's over? Wait, there isn't a blog of the year prize? Anyway, as Tony Kornheiser would say, "That's it! 20 Week 7: Schroer-Kacheishvili. 17 Wildcard, Week 5: Gurevich-Barcenilla. The tactics were pr...

San Francisco Mechanics: Creaky start for the Mechanics
http://sfmechanics.blogspot.com/2012/09/creaky-start-for-mechanics.html
Thursday, September 06, 2012. Creaky start for the Mechanics. Welcome back to that most dizzying of rollercoaster rides, the 2012 edition of the US Chess League. Since I’m neither an IM nor an 11 year old, I can old assume that our valiant captain, John Donaldson, put me on the team as lead blogger as much as anything else, so here goes. Our best moments of the match came on board three, where Samuel Sevian looked like the best player on the team (and won his first ever USCL game in the process). Simpson...
