We've had lots of warm temperatures and sunny skies. One day last week, there was a hale storm, followed by this beautiful rainbow. One night, there was Mexican by Joannie, ole'. We then went just down the street to Monay Shopping for coffee at El Espanol. There were lots of balloons. And gowns and costumes.

Metamorphosis: Changing to Retirement in Ecuador. Thursday, January 24, 2013. This month has been a fun month for us. We've done a bit of traveling around. Last week, we left Cuenca for the coast. Janet and David were with us. Our first night was in Guayaquil at the Marriott. Of course we dined at Noe at La Boca in Samborondon. I love the fountain there. In the garden was this little guy. The Cuencano tradition is to foam folks. In preparation, vendors are everywhere with tables filled with cans of "espuma de Carnaval". On Friday night, Garth and Orilla hosted a Carnaval get-together. With the finality of our humaness, with the loss of someone that we love, at some point, we must find closure. After an illness of a few months, Will Lacey's suffering ended on Monday evening. His friends found closure today with a Celebration of Will's life. Will was present in spirit. This is the memorial to Will. Mick and Clark went casual. Will was a casual guy. Gena's dad and Randy. Metamorphosis: Changing to Retirement in Ecuador. Sunday, January 13, 2013. Riobamba and the Train Ride. Our original plan did not include a train ride; however, while checking in at Abraspungo, there was a brochure about the trains. So, on Sunday we boarded the Tren del Hielo. The train traveled north from Riobamba, past the base of Chimborazo, to Urbina. Below is the station in Riobamba. When we left the station, the train was escorted by security guards. At crossings, the guards would stop traffic.

Continuing, we encountered a very small town, whose park was filled with topiaries. Mick, Larry, and Nikolas. In Banos, we stayed at the Samari Resort and Spa. Metamorphosis: Changing to Retirement in Ecuador. Saturday, March 3, 2012. Two New Additions to the Restaurant List. The Melting Pot comes to Cuenca at Fondues. Fondues is located a couple blocks off Av. Solano on Carlos Teran y Julio Matovelle. It is a lovely restaurant with a variety of cheese, oil, and chocolate fondues.
