About the Area: Loudoun County. Loudoun County was established in 1757 from Fairfax County. The county is named for John Campbell, Fourth Earl of Loudoun and Governor of Virginia from 1756 59. News, Events and Activities. The Stone Bridge Chapter meets the fourth Thursday of the month in September, October, January, February, March and April. The May meeting is usually a special activity, scheduled on a mutually agreed upon date; the November meeting is on the third Thursday due to Thanksgiving; and the December meeting is held in conjunction with the DAR Open House. The first meeting of area women who are descendants of Revolutionary War soldiers was held in Sterling, Virginia, at the Sterling Library in September 2002.
