Glorious – Vancouver observations

https://vancouverobservations.wordpress.com/2016/12/05/glorious-2

From Sydney to Vancouver, here are my observations…. December 5, 2016. At Whistler Blackcomb last weekend, I can report a very successful day skiing yesterday. I am a very happy girl. Last weekend, on our first ski day for the season, I struggled big time. There was lots of powder (which I’m not used to), new boots. Smaller, and firmer), and perhaps I’m not as ski fit as I should be. It was annoying and frustrating, and at times it felt like I’d forgotten how to ski. I enjoyed the blues, and I skied well...

Remnant – Vancouver observations

https://vancouverobservations.wordpress.com/2016/12/07/remnant

From Sydney to Vancouver, here are my observations…. December 7, 2016. Snow in Vancouver is a novelty, even if the city and its residents don’t cope as well as they should. I took this photo in Strathcona Park this morning, about 1.5 days after it stopped snowing. Vancouver received about 5cm. Since then, the remnant snow in downtown Vancouver has become patchy, so I was surprised by the amount of snow in Strathcona Park today. I was on the bus heading to Foodbank. Steamboat – Vancouver observations

https://vancouverobservations.wordpress.com/2017/01/13/steamboat

From Sydney to Vancouver, here are my observations…. January 13, 2017. The genesis for our Colorado trip was to spend Christmas with friends, and ski. It wasn’t to count fur jackets. Although I did that too. While A and I are content in our own company, when our friends Arnold and Sandra said they were spending Christmas at Steamboat Springs, we jumped at the chance to join them and the Gooding family. Skiing with friends for Christmas? Steamboat Springs was a great place, good snow and skiing. Leave a R...

Fur – Vancouver observations

https://vancouverobservations.wordpress.com/2017/01/09/fur

From Sydney to Vancouver, here are my observations…. January 9, 2017. By the end of our first day in Vail*, I had counted 12 fur jackets (including one on a man), four fur hats and four fur shops. I just trawled through a few hundred photos from Vail, hoping to find someone wearing fur… Success! And in the above photo, I unfortunately cropped out Fantasia Furs on the other side of the walkway. My fur count was over on our second day, when I saw two pairs of fur gloves on the slopes. It just doesn’t...

Vail – Vancouver observations

https://vancouverobservations.wordpress.com/2017/01/10/vail

From Sydney to Vancouver, here are my observations…. January 10, 2017. January 10, 2017. Vail village was lovely, squeezed as it is between the I-70 and the mountain. And there was lots and lots of public art. Some was skiing related, but there were plenty of animals too. This slideshow requires JavaScript. The village has a European-esque feel, which I initially thought was a bit naff, but it relates to the development and history of the village and ski resort. This slideshow requires JavaScript. It’s been a busy couple of weeks and I have been a little slack with the blog. I’m pretty sure I have been slowly coming out of a Lobster Roll induced post-holiday, coma.
