Urban Veggie Garden Blog: March 2013

http://veggiegardenblog.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 26, 2013. Monday, March 11, 2013. First Harvest of 2013. Today I was able to get my fork in the ground and harvest some carrots. We were luckily missed by the last eastern snow storm so the veggie garden is now snow free. I planted these carrots late last summer and they overwintered well. They are super sweet and crunchy, looks like carrots are for dinner! The variety is Sugarsnax 54, Pelleted. Monday, March 4, 2013. The Season has Started! It is nice to start growing things again! Monday, August 19, 2013. There May Be Hope, After All! It seems after thoroughly complaining about the garden last week it has now started to reap some rewards. Here are some noticeable improvements:. The first melon is developing. This is a Crenshaw Lilly F1. The Numex Joe E Parker (Anaheim) have turned. This is the first time I have grown this particular. Anaheim pepper, they seem smaller then usual. The Dragon Tongue Beans are finally ready! Them in late May. I hope more set soon. The Garden in August.

Urban Veggie Garden Blog: Fall Happenings

http://veggiegardenblog.blogspot.com/2013/11/fall-happenings.html

Sunday, November 17, 2013. November 17, 2013 at 7:10 PM. I planted my garlic last month, and the squirrels dug most of it up last week. I had to replant a lot of it, then I put about 3 of leaves over the top of the bed, so maybe the squirrels will stop digging. This is the first year Ive had a problem with them bothering my plants. They even dug up several newly planted raspberry canes! Ill probably be growing a forest of walnut trees in my garden next year :-(. November 18, 2013 at 4:44 AM. IAMCIDER: Do...

http://coconutpalm.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, April 21, 2010. Originally uploaded by ParsecTraveller. It was a stormy day in San Luis Obispo, but that meant for dramatic skies. Indeed, sunset proved to be an amazing time, with fast-moving clouds and beautiful shades of pink and orange. The non-native grasses, which can be seen in the foreground, are already drying up, despite all the late-season rains we've been having. Monday, April 19, 2010. http://anurbanplot.blogspot.com/2010/06/scientist-warns-of-dire-consequences.html

Tuesday, June 22, 2010. Scientist warns of dire consequences. Ignoring potential non-target detrimental side effects of any chemical, especially used as heavily as glyphosate (Monsanto's RoundUp herbicide), may have dire consequences for agriculture such as rendering soils infertile, crops non-productive, and plants less nutritious. To do so might well compromise not only agricultural sustainability, but also the health and well-being of animals and humans.". Read more on this warning here. Chronicles on...
