DOMEGROWING: Compost Bin
http://geogrow.blogspot.com/p/compost-bin.html
Off-grid. Net-zero fuel, water, waste. Sustainable, responsible food production. It's actually not much of a bin but a processing center. My compost is in piles to the right. Closest to the bin is the oldest stuff. I start with fresh waste on the right, then every couple of months I turn the pile over to the left. After 3 turnings, the largest stems, roots and branches are very well decomposed and ready for the screen. You can never have too much compost. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Update 3/29/14:  ...

DOMEGROWING: Plastic mulch is the way to go
http://geogrow.blogspot.com/2015/05/plastic-mulch-is-way-to-go.html
Off-grid. Net-zero fuel, water, waste. Sustainable, responsible food production. Sunday, May 3, 2015. Plastic mulch is the way to go. This is an ingenious way to extend the growing season. Clear plastic, stretched and plowed in over a shallow valley, allows seeds to sprout and grow under row covers. Here is how they get a jump on the corn season in my town:. The green poking up is 5" corn below the mini greenhouse. I doing this next year! Update 5/19: the leaves nearest the bottom have all burned off!

http://geogrow.blogspot.com/2015/09/zucchino-rampicante-was-pleasant.html
Off-grid. Net-zero fuel, water, waste. Sustainable, responsible food production. Monday, September 21, 2015. Zucchino rampicante was a pleasant surprise! Definitely a favorite this year. Fast-growing, huge yield (10 fruits per plant) and a delicious pumpkin flavor. I did not try them as green summer zucchini, but being more of a winter squash it wouldn't surprise me that the green squash would have a different flavor. I made ravioli to the following measurements:. 1/2 stick butter, softened. Cutting of H...

DOMEGROWING: Built a better pond filter yesterday
http://geogrow.blogspot.com/2012/10/built-better-pond-filter-yesterday.html
Off-grid. Net-zero fuel, water, waste. Sustainable, responsible food production. Monday, October 15, 2012. Built a better pond filter yesterday. Update 3/29/14: I figured I would add some more details to this post. It is amazing how many people are looking at my filter! It cost me about $20 (not including pump) and works perfectly. Granted, I did have most of the items laying around, but you might too! 1 bucket (minimum 5-gallon, but you can go bigger if you want). 2 PVC elbows non-threaded. Using gutter...
