Located on the lagoon of the same name, Venice is the main city of Venezia and of Eastern northern Italy, its counts approximately 271.000 inhabitants. With 19 million visitors per year (2006) it is the city most visited in Italy, more than Rome (18 million) and Florence (13 million). Public transport in Venice is ensured by the Vaporetto: small floating bus with vapor, between the various districts of Venice and the islands of the lagoon. The company in charge of transport is ACTV. Attention, the ticket is expensive: 6,50 € for 60 min of validity. It is sometimes preferable to choose a card or a long time ticket.
