Wednesday, July 29, 2009. Jeff Wilpon and The Sports Media Have No Credibility Right Now, Why the Backlash on Minaya? Is there anyone out there that can explain to me why the backlash on Omar Minaya has been so harsh after he called out NY Daily News reporter at the Bernazard press conference the other day? I don't get it. I especially don't understand why Jeff Wilpon, son of NY Mets owner Fred Wilpon, felt the need to step forward and apologize to Rubin. If you live in a glass house, don't throw stones.

VFC's views on todays news. Saturday, April 30, 2011. News and Notes: Royalty, Birth Certificates, Politics and Sheen. Looks like something might finally give in Syria, where the government and its armed forces have been mowing down demonstrators with brute force for weeks. Significant chunks of the armed forces are reported to have been dropping arms and taking up sides with the protesters. NATO has not yet confirmed, but Libyan sources report those facts. On to a more uplifting topic - The Royal Wedding.

VFC's views on todays news. Wednesday, August 12, 2009. More Evidence of What is Plaguing the System. News wires today are reporting that relatives of Mitchell Wiener, victim of the first swine-flu fatality in New York City, are suing for $40 million. The suit claims that the city of New York "acted negligently in dealing with the outbreak.". Now, let's take emotion out of the equation and replace it with some common sense:. How do you come up with that number? This number is ridiculous. Additionally, in...

VFC's views on todays news. Friday, December 18, 2009. The Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen. A few thoughts on the conference in Copenhagen and climate change in general:. How can Al Gore expect anyone to take his talk of despair seriously when he's flying around in private jets and driving around in SUVs and limousines? Meanwhile, Nancy Pelosi used at least two Air Force jets to fly her and a delegation of over twenty (an outlandish number in itself) to the conference. Links to this post. Aside f...

VFC's views on todays news. Wednesday, June 9, 2010. VFC's Take on the Oil Spill. The spill in the Gulf either is already or will become the worst oil-spill catastrophe that we have seen, that goes without saying. However, the politicians, the businessmen and the residents effected by the spill on the coast are all playing into the hands of the media and are starting to look and sound like a group of disorganized schoolchildren all crying over spilled milk. We're all on the same team here - we want the p...

VFC's views on todays news. Sunday, March 27, 2011. News and Notes: Philles Just Got a Dose of the Mets' Bad Karma, A Landmark Legal Action Against the Media,. Here's what the Philadelphia Phillies said by signing Luis Castillo last week: "We will not win the National League East.". Luis had to drop a popup against the Yankees to take down the Mets and spread the karma throughout the franchise for years to come, but to take down the Phillies, it looks like all he had to do was show up. So it's about time...

VFC's views on todays news. Wednesday, January 19, 2011. News and Notes: 1/18. It wasn't the New York Giants, but any time pretty boy Tom Brady gets knocked around and a Boston team gets knocked out of the playoffs by New York, it's a good thing. A standoff in the Ivory Coast; Tunisia in disarray - both examples of Africa as a bubbling flash-point that cannot be ignored. There's a whole continent there with problems much more severe than our own. I always get a chuckle at the stars - the ones who strive ...

VFC's views on todays news. Wednesday, November 16, 2011. News and Notes: Penn State, Herman Cain, Jose Reyes And More. You've got to laugh at the market hype created by the media, and the panic created by the fickle-minded investors who all contributed to last week's significant volatility that saw a near four hundred point drop by the DOW immediately followed by a gain of over two hundred points. In politics, Republican Presidential candidate Herman Cain has been facing a rash of attacks for alleged se...

VFC's views on todays news. Saturday, June 25, 2011. Weekly News and Notes: Why Politicians Do What They Do, Same-Sex Marriage, Legalizing Marijuana, Sean Penn, Weiner, and The Mets. Regardless of where you fall out on the issue, New York State's approval of same-sex marriage puts the issue on the map, big time. This goes down right at the same time that Representative Barney Frank from Massachusetts is all over the place hyping the deregulation of marijuana. Rumor has it that this is all grandstanding t...
