May 17, 2015. Blackbar began as a fast pace fun challenge of trying to get the correct word in the blank space. I was addicted and couldn’t stop playing for extended periods. The game was perfectly crafted so that the initial pages were easy to decipher but once I was already hooked it took a drastic turn. Blackbar is beautifully developed in the scariest way possible. Roles of Female Characters, as Examined in BioShock. April 5, 2015. You’ve got your oversexualized female characters: ones with daddy issues, ones that need constant protection and saving, the mere quest-givers, the escort, etc. They seem to be limited to these roles, and even when they take center stage as the protagonist, they’re handled improperly. When thinking of what roles I want to examine, I realized the Bioshock series provided a variety of examples, which I will detail below. BioShock 1 and 2.
