Friday, September 3, 2010. Morning in Acqua Dolce. Zio Giuseppe took us to visit one of his olive tree farms, this one just outside of Taurisano. Where the land is known as acqua dolce. And being able to visit the farm and learn about the process was one of my favorite parts of our vacation. Guiseppe's farm has about 45 trees (and nearly 100 others elsewhere), most of which are between 200 and 300 years old. He has worked on these farms since he was 14 or 15 years old, and knows each tree individually.

Thursday, June 17, 2010. Catching Up Photos, part 2: Castiglioncello. These photos are from Castiglioncello, a town that was essentially abandoned in the early '60s when development of a new highway basically cut the town off from main traffic routes and services. Seeing this tiny town (maybe about 10 or 12 buildings total and two churches) was like being in an episode of the History Channel's show Life After People. Basically, what will happen to physical structures without human intervention.
