Over the Hill: Final Preparation for Running the Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB) | The Vicarious Traveller

http://vicarious-traveller.com/preparation-tour-du-mont-blanc

A Journal for Those Stuck at Home. Over the Hill: Final Preparation for Running the Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB). It has been a busy few months, juggling projects, including big edits on my book project, Josef’s Lair, working the bread-and-butter job, cross-country training, and, of course, home life. Just ahead, in two weeks, I board a plane for Geneva, beginning my 5 day running adventure in the Alps. Day 1: Sprint intervals at the track (1 hour). Day 2: Interval hill training on the bike (1 hour). For me,...

Launching Josef’s Lair: Like a Second Wedding – Sort Of | The Vicarious Traveller

http://vicarious-traveller.com/launching-josefs-lair

A Journal for Those Stuck at Home. Launching Josef’s Lair: Like a Second Wedding Sort Of. After self-publishing my first novel,. On Queen West in Toronto, and asked if I could do my launch there. She whole-heartedly agreed (she was also the last person to read the book, before I published, which I’m eternally grateful for). I soon came to realize that the book launch had a lot more in common with a wedding than I would have thought. Don’t believe me? Let me break it down:. The real work is just beginning.

Use All Your Gears – to Maximize Fitness | The Vicarious Traveller

http://vicarious-traveller.com/use-your-gears

A Journal for Those Stuck at Home. Use All Your Gears to Maximize Fitness. And that’s the point of this post: If you train like a one gear pony, you will be a one gear pony. Probably the easiest way to keep a pulse on our training efforts is a heart rate monitor ( read my post on HR monitors. Generally, the heart rate is broken into 5 zones, ranging from Zone 1 (brisk walk) to Zone 5, which approaches the top end of your heart rate (sprints). 1 hill repeat session on my bike (6-10 hill climbs) (Zone 3-5).

I’ll Admit It: I Don’t Like Road Marathons | The Vicarious Traveller

http://vicarious-traveller.com/road-marathons

A Journal for Those Stuck at Home. I’ll Admit It: I Don’t Like Road Marathons. In some running circles, the road marathon is considered the ultimate test of one’s fitness, but I’m honestly not a big fan of pavement. My ultimate fitness goal is to stay active deep into my ‘golden years’ like my parents. With that in mind, I have to consider what sports will actually bring on the injuries — especially the permanent kind — quicker. I had made a race plan based on heart rate zones, but on race day the temper...

The Importance of PCP: Parents with Creative Projects | The Vicarious Traveller

http://vicarious-traveller.com/creative-projects

A Journal for Those Stuck at Home. The Importance of PCP: Parents with Creative Projects. Absolutely. But I know plenty of people wracked with guilt, because they felt nothing. Zero. Parenting is a wilderness with many paths, and I’d like to think most of us eventually find our way to the love. Queenie Liao’s photographs of her sleeping son:. Sunday, September 25, 2011. The Almighty Dressage Giraffe! Maybe your sim is a little unconventional. Maybe they are looking to make a statement in the dressage ring - and what better way to do so then riding the Almighty Dressage Giraffe? Their uphill build is perfect for collection and is sure to catch the eye of any judge. Just keep in mind that the giraffe is STILL a wild animal - and may take a little while to train. Posted by vicarious.sims. Saturday, September 24, 2011. Aint nothing but mammals!

Vicarious Thoughts

Wednesday, April 28, 2010. There comes a time when things have to slow down and everyone has to take a look around… a person HAS to absorb whatever goes on. Isn’t the world a much beautiful place at 40? Even the divider on the road looks such a wonderful creation by man! Come to think of it… what gear are you going at - 3. Isn’t it time to maybe shift down the gear by a notch and enjoy whatever passes by? The orange color of the traffic signal isn’t that bad too… looks trendy! How would life be @ 60?

The Vicarious Triker

Wednesday, October 7, 2009. My apologies for not resuming the blog when Dee and Cal resumed their trip, but now that they are back home, I wanted to reflect a little on what I learned. The provinces and territories. It was also cool that I was able to travel to Canada (Vancouver) myself during this time, and in this way meet people from all over Canada. Oh, yes, one more thing: if you have had an ice cream today, life is good. Monday, July 20, 2009. The Bulkley River Valley. Sunday, July 19, 2009. Which ...

20 March 2009 @ 11:38 pm. Maybe all of that nonsense with the Thing hadn't been such a good idea, after all. But all he wants to do is sleep. The sideroom is dark and quiet and he lies down, asleep almost instantly in the cocooning silence. Hadn't there been silence? The endless sounds and words and music in his own head. But can it really be called lucidity when dark is day and light is night? No, that isn't right. Of course they couldn't hear it, it was an hallucination. And a dark place hardly larger ...

Vermouth & Viola

If there's a corner I'd go unnoticed, this is it. If there's a corner I'd get attention, this is it. If there's a corner I don't have to explain I belong there, I'm there. Wednesday, June 20, 2012. I have tried to change, for the better obviously fails. But I did change, for the worse I guess. I'll only talk to God from now on. Everyone else will tire of me, will give up on me. Posted by Vermouth and Viola. Monday, October 25, 2010. I've a little history that makes fear imminent and leans wildly into par...
