Holidays: Hampton Court Palace
http://courtadventures.blogspot.com/2015/08/hampton-court-palace.html
Sunday, August 2, 2015. While visiting East Molesey on 30 July I went for a walk along the banks of the Thames to Hampton Court Palace. Built 500 years ago this Tudor palace is a most impressive building. The palace is an easy walk along the banks of the Thames River from the East Molesey cricket ground. Numerous water birds, including swans, can be seen during the walk. It is quite a busy stretch of river with a variety of boats. When crossing the bridge the castle comes into view. Thursday, July 30, 2015. While at Lutterworth for Game 11 Karen, Nola, Lyn and I went for a walk to explore the town. We walked through the church yard of St Mary's Church which borders the cricket ground and into a street with buildings demonstrating a variety of architectural styles. There were many interesting buildings in the town. We also passed the local public library. As usual for towns in Europe in summer there were displays of colourful flowers in the streets as well as on the buildings. 29 Jul...

Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Thoughts about the UK tour. Back home in Australia there is now opportunity to reflect on the two over 60s cricket tours in the UK during June and July 2015. There were a number of team milestones achieved by the Australian over 60s team:. Winning 11 of the 14 County games played. Winning the Test Match against Wales convincingly. Winning two of the three Test Matches played against England including the two day game at the end of the tour. Owning a baggy green with a number.

Holidays: Pontcysyllte Aqueduct
http://courtadventures.blogspot.com/2015/08/pontcysyllte-aqueduct.html
Monday, August 3, 2015. On 20 July we travelled from Wrexham to our next location at Leicester after stopping at the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. At Trevor in north east Wales. Arriving at Trevor, a village in the County of Wrexham, we found a number of canal boats lined up on either side of the canal leading to the aqueduct. We then set off using the walkway at the side of the aqueduct and looked at the great views below. Colourful canal boats passed us as they travelled along the aqueduct towards Trevor.

Holidays: Leicester - Leicester Castle
http://courtadventures.blogspot.com/2015/08/leicester-leicester-castle.html
Monday, August 3, 2015. Leicester - Leicester Castle. Was built shortly after the Normans arrived in England, probably in 1068. It would have been a motte and bailey castle. The remains of the motte still exist today in the Castle Gardens. Later the castle was rebuilt in stone. Little remains of the castle though there are still some structures remaining. The castle gate still exists providing clues as to what the structure would have been like. Posted by Vicki's Blog. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
