View From A Garden: April 2016

http://viewfromagarden.blogspot.com/2016_04_01_archive.html

Sharing what I love; Gardening, Art, Music, Books. . .and living on a Great Lake. Friday, April 8, 2016. Craving Color In The Garden. This has been an unusual Spring in Northern Ohio. One week it's mild, the next it's below normal temperatures. The last 3 weekends have been horrible; rain, 30 degrees, wind. . .so frustrating, because that means no garden time. And, as I am craving some color right now, I thought I'd share some photos from previous years:. Coneflowers, Black Eyed Susan, Day Lilies. I'm pr...

I know for some it is "Fall", but I've always preferred "Autumn". And actually, BOTH are correct! I truly love each season, and find there is beauty to be found all year round. . . Today, I would like to share some fun crafts I've been working on, and also the lovely gifts I received from taking part in. Now, on to the fun!

Sharing what I love; Gardening, Art, Music, Books. . .and living on a Great Lake. Friday, September 23, 2016. Hope everyone is enjoying the transition from Summer to Autumn. I am a Summer girl, and I really hate to see the days growing shorter, but I DO love the seasonal changes, too! This is the prime time for my Dahlias. Every year, I plant the tubers in May, usually on Mother's Day. And I patiently wait for mid-to-late August for the flowers to begin blooming. So, here's the show:. Hence, there are a ...

Sharing what I love; Gardening, Art, Music, Books. . .and living on a Great Lake. Friday, June 17, 2016. Farewell to Peonies, Hello Roses! I am always sad to see the Peonies fade away, not to return for another year. Such lovely colors in one bloom. These are the last to emerge. A couple of posts ago, I shared the peonies which were first in the garden:. These next shots are close ups that I took to show the complex detailing of the many petals:. Well, there's always next year, right? As a little girl, I...

A Boutique Blog that Celebrates the Stylish Side of 60! Thursday, September 27, 2012. Tea at the Plaza with Eloise and Madeline. Autumn in New York means a return to elegance and time-honored traditions; and having tea in the Palm Court of the Plaza Hotel is one of my most cherished and delicious traditions. Every autumn, when I was a little girl, my Mother’s Aunt Annie and I would take the train from Philadelphia to Manhattan. But the best was yet to come! As I sipped my tea and drank in the beauty of m...

A Boutique Blog that Celebrates the Stylish Side of 60! Wednesday, April 27, 2011. Red Shoes and Glass Slippers. Why do we have so many shoes that we can’t keep track of them? Because we can’t stop buying them, because we love them. We love wearing them; we love trying them on; and we really love buying them. Alas, it was not to be. Who needs Prince Charming when you can have those shoes? Throughout most of the history of western civilization, shoes were far more important to a gentleman’s attire t...

A Boutique Blog that Celebrates the Stylish Side of 60! Monday, August 30, 2010. The Shrimp and The Twig. Too old for hot flashes.old enough for Flashbacks! And lately I’ve been having them like mad, Flashbacks that is, every time I catch an episode of “Mad Men” or see its influence on this fall’s fashions. Like every young girl my age, I worshiped her – collected her pictures, devoured every news item about her and bought the products she endorsed. A Boutique Blog that Celebrates the Stylish Side of 60! Tuesday, October 16, 2012. You’re Never Too Old to Baby Your Face. Our baby skin was fragile, easily irritated and needed special care. So, mothers chose skin care products specifically created to gently cleanse and protect our delicate skin. As teenagers, we examined every square inch of our faces each morning for that budding break out that would wreak havoc on our social lives. Where’s my zit zapper (i.e., Clearasil)? Is that a line? A Boutique Blog that Celebrates the Stylish Side of 60! Tuesday, June 23, 2015. Your Friend, Mother Nature – Don’t Say You Haven’t Been Warned! I am seldom in a good mood in the morning. No, let me rephrase that. I am always in a bad mood in the morning. No, let me be more precise, I am a barely ambulatory bad mood in the morning looking for a reason to justify its existence……. And Mother Nature frequently supplies one. When did we all become vestal virgins to such a capricious goddess? When I was five, ...

The French Touch: Weddings

http://thefrenchtouch-m-t.blogspot.com/p/weddings.html

A Boutique Blog that Celebrates the Stylish Side of 60! Remember when weddings were simple affairs with family and close friends? I do I had a very small wedding at home. I designed my wedding ensemble, and Mme Mère created it, top to bottom. She spent hours hand beading the Juliet Cap and sewing tiny seed pearls into the Alençon lace bodice. The pictures may have faded with time, but the memories have not. Things are very different today. A Warm and Cozy Winter Wedding. A Wedding on the Beach. Our baby ...

Living It Out Loud

Living It Out Loud. Monday, November 15, 2010. The temptation to panic hovers close by, especially since my husband is also unemployed, as of this past February. Panic sits there, with a smug look on its face as if to say, "I'll wait. Sooner or later you'll let me in." He's wrong, and I'll tell you why. Panic just doesn't stand a chance. Monday, August 23, 2010. I'm turning 50 in October. (. I'll pause while the clapping subsides.). That I didn't want to leave the hospital after my daughter was born, bec...
