Playing straight horns versus attachment horns. Bye bye Scott and Sarah McElfresh, how will we replace you? History of fries and pie. Purpose of fries and pie? Best concert you've ever played. The View from the Back Row: November 2009

http://www.viewfrombackrow.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Tailgate" is not actually Italian, believe it or not, but it is actually a slang term for glissando. Also known as "glissing" or "smearing"), or the unique ability of the trombone to slide between two notes. This term is used to denote a Dixieland style of smear. The Virgina Tech Multimedia Music Dictionary. Gives this etymology for the term "tailgate":. And here you thought tailgating only had to do with football gameday activities. Hah! Links to this post. The View from the Back Row: on recordings

http://www.viewfrombackrow.blogspot.com/2010/05/on-recordings.html

Personally, I have been part of a number of scheduled recordings like this. The Symphonic Band at the RLMU was part of a number of recordings of new band music for sampler CDs for band directors. Most notably, however, I was in the band that recorded Jim Bonney's. Which appears on BCM's Men of Industry. CD It's a great piece of music, truly, and the recording experience was intense (and Jim Bonney is an amazingly inspirational person). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Sounds like a bad shoujo-ai.".

The View from the Back Row: February 2010

http://www.viewfrombackrow.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

So, the AWCB hasn't had rehearsal for the past two weeks, thanks to "SNOMAGGEDON", or the large snowstorm that blanketed our area with - gasp! Two feet of snow! Our city shut down - my university was closed for three days, and I don't think the area's elementary and high schools have been back to normal since. Lawn chairs have appeared all over. And vigilante parking authorities. I can hear you readers asking - what does this have to do with trombonery? So when we don't have rehearsal for weeks, I think ...

The View from the Back Row: December 2009

http://www.viewfrombackrow.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

Youtube o' the week! My brother always gets me a dvd for Christmas. Well, at least for the last several years he has. This year, it was a copy of Rachel Portman's opera. Based on the book by Antoine de St.-Exupery. I really enjoyed it, especially the amazing work by baritone Teddy Tahu Rhodes as the pilot. The audio is a little out of sync, but this is the scene shortly after the pilot meets the Prince, and the two come to an understanding about the nature of sheep. Links to this post. The View from the Back Row: Glossary

http://www.viewfrombackrow.blogspot.com/2009/09/glossary.html

So because we don't always take time to explain ourselves, here's a little glossary of some terms used in this blog that might not be intuitive. We will be updating this as necessary. Japanese animated television shows or films, usually created for an adult audience rather than American-style "cartoons". The "Award-Winning Community Band" that Jon and Lauren share a stand in. This is a code name. The actual band is the East Winds Symphonic Band. Hamsters in the mugs. A concert or a performance of any type.

Baby, were invincible! Im trusting you and taking the long way home. Dec 13th, 2005 at 12:46 AM. Okay, everyone. Here's the deal. For a long time - from April 2001 until 2006, acutally - I had a mostly-public LiveJournal. It was something I prided myself on - I liked the fact that people from my life could read my blog and know what's going on with me. I will add you back if you request it, but please leave me a comment to let me know. Thinking about friending me? Heres a little description.

Snup's View From the Back Pew

Sunday, November 30, 2014. I have been officially transferred back to St. Louis, effective today! I have bought a house. YAY! It's not quite in the neighborhood I want, but pretty close. It's actually in the parish of Epiphany. I vaguely remember my last visit.after awhile, all the churches blend together unless something spectacular happens. (like dancing.). I was sitting there going I can overlook the vast expanses of white if I am spiritually fed, if there is good music. No O Come O Come Emmanual?

Skype was working fine until a few days back but today 12-10-2005 when i tried using it to voice chat with my family spread across the world, I was unable to login. Any nerds out there who know how to get around this problem. Please note the LOGIN to Skype itself does not work, you enter your username and password and then nothing happens Skype keeps trying and then gives up saying critical error. MANAMA: A...

View from Baja Arizona. Using Rotenone to restore endangered fish may be endangering people. March 7, 2011. Using Rotenone to restore endangered fish may be endangering people…. But you won’t find out because some folks don’t want its use in Arizona waters — or any waters — subjected to review. Fisheries managers say Rotenone and Antimycin A have been used successfully to restore native, sometimes endangered, fish to their traditional habitats. They say without the poisons it would be impossible to r...

The View from Baku | Adventures in Azerbaijan

The View from Baku. November 23, 2008 by Jim Trengrove. I landed at Washington-Dulles Airport on schedule Saturday afternoon, 17 hours after leaving Baku. I breezed through Immigration, the baggage carousel, Customs, went through the. Door, and found Roberta waiting with the car at the curb with a rose! The police on patrol, eventually, told us to move on, and we drove to Reagan National where Chelsea’s flight from Denver arrived minutes later. Thanks to all of you who frequented. Meanwhile, the first ADA.
